From: Lyla Tunwarm I just turn off sigs in the User CP..... Never see anything useful.
As for SL every year they promise all kinds of stuff... Right now their priority is making phone calls available directly to SL... Because they can't apparently get IMs to work without the avatar being logged in. At least not in a way that doesn't involve farking emails! They'd have to give each avatar it's own unique phone number, because I sure as heck am not giving them my phone number at home or my cell phone number.

From: Meade Paravane What's your screen resolution, Clarisas? Her sig pictures, not counting text, total about 430 pixels high... I don't know. But I have pix enabled as links not as automatic loading. From: someone Again, I'm not gonna disable it for everybody just because one person decides to abuse it. I am sorry, I did not see anyone else suggest this what I consider to be a simple solution. From: someone Nobody else abuses them to the extent she does so why should they have to pay? The choices seem to be to scroll or to disable automatic pix loads. I try and go with my actual choices, it helps avoid frustration. On my screen when I click her pix are small but I realise this is subjective. Also sigs do not bother me unless they are flashing. Flashing things give me a headache. I can't really identify with the anger on this issue I guess.

Meade is wrong, I am not the only person with large signature images, I can name 2 others at least of the top of my head. Meade, just because you say it is abuse, does not make it so - so what if it is 430 pixels? The system limits width to 500 and if height was an issue then it would do likewise to the height. Stop creating drama where there isn't any.

The only standard for sig size I know of is the McQ limit from Usenet, 4 lines, 77 characters per line. 77 characters so when you're quoted by some idiot who doesn't delete your sig from their response it still doesn't wrap on an 80 column display.

you must not read so much of the forums as post. From: Meade Paravane Oh!! The "it's not explicitly illegal so it's ok" defense!!
That one has served life, first and second, sooooo well over the years, too.
not even close. just because someone doesn't conform to what you have decided is right for yourself does not automatically mean they are wrong. file an abuse report if you're so certain.

A mouse with a scroll wheel is a pretty good response to tall signatures.

From: 23rdDjin Negulesco you must not read so much of the forums as post. Yep. Well-known fact. From: 23rdDjin Negulesco file an abuse report if you're so certain. Not worth the bother - easiest thing is to just ignore her.

*shrugs* Sigs were always meant to be scrolled past. If something catches my eye, I read. If not, I scroll.

As for what's next, someone go poke Gwyneth with pointy objects, she has some inside info and she won't play nicely and share!

From: Oryx Tempel Improved customer relations, This is key to all the others working. A company like LL that acts for opinion, but doesnt take notice is a company that is not listening to it's customers needs. We've built the world for them, and now it's done, they want to play thier way or no way. For SL to last, LL need to completely change the way it does business: 1) Realise the customer is king - and not just corporates they are trying to attract, but you and I - the people that put smaller, but not insignificat amounts into the kitty. 2) Offer REAL customer service along with SLA's when they dont perform. 3) A fixed set of rules - maybe a 12 month rolling commitment charter which they cannot deviate from. That way the economy can settle as we all know where we stand when investing in SL for 12 months in advance. 4) Listen and LEARN from the customer. Listen to our needs - they are not (mostly) unreasonable. Most of the things we ask for will make the experience better and may attract the corporates LL strive. 5) Become approchable - How hard is it at times to find a linden online that you can actually talk to about an issue? Too busy? recruit more QUALITY staff. 6) Unify rules. Too many Lindens seem to have a different grasp of the rules and TOS - this just angers the customer and causes confusion. Once, and only once this is sorted, can people start to enjoy life in SL - knowing the company behind it wants to work with us, and not continually against us, whiclst grabbing every penny thay can from us. Gomez

From: Gomez Bracken This is key to all the others working. /me agrees. From: Gomez Bracken 5) Become approchable - How hard is it at times to find a linden online that you can actually talk to about an issue? Too busy? recruit more QUALITY staff. This is a big one for me.. LL has increasingly become less and less approachable over the last year or so. Dunno if it's due to a mandate from the new senior staff or if it's even something they're doing on purpose but it is a very troubling trend, IMO. I would say they get an F on this one but that leaves nowhere else to go but up and I don't think they've sunk quite as low as they can yet.. I would also add that they need to be more forthcoming when problem are going on. How long has this problem of sims stalling when people TP in been crippling popular places? 3 months? What have we heard from LL on it??

From: Gabriele Graves So how are my pictures abuse? What determines that? Just because somebody says it is doesn't automatically make it so, Meade says it is, I say it isn't - why do you think it is? You see I could say *your* signature is abuse too, but there has to be some determinant that makes it so doesn't there? That is a discussion for another thread. Might be an interesting one to. You guys do realize SL is just the beta test for the commercial platform right? What you get is what their corporate customers want not what you want... They want to sell their platform and bankroll off license and support. Same thing that is happening with Entropia Universe. Why do you think LL still considers SL a big beta project... Point and case: http://work.secondlife.com/

To be fair to Linden Lab, for years residents have been screaming at them to stop adding new features and fix the problems with the existing system. For the past year, they have been working on that, as they promised.
