No way am I repurchasing to replace my considerable investment in outfits for a new mesh if that is what it would take. I feel the current mesh is good enough, I have seen avs from other systems that have better meshes and to be honest they look too "uncanny valley" for me, I like the slightly cartoony quality SL has - it helps remind you that this place isn't RL.

Personally, I really hope that LL is secretly working on an SL2. I'm in the beta at Blue Mars and I've been watching what is going on in some of the other game MMO's. I don't think that SL can come close to the new standards with the game engine it has. Some of the titles coming out this fall are pretty amazing. It won't be long before SL type graphics and limitations are generally considered antiquated. It may not mean much to those who have a business in SL and don't even play these other MMO's but it will to their customers and to the new people.

The implications of an SL2 could be pretty extreme though. Would it run alongside SL1 or replace it? If it did run both how much effort would go into SL1? LL may just chose to ride the bull they've got for as long as they can. If that's the case I wouldn't expect them to be investing heavily in improvements unless they directly relate to a boost in income for LL.

Didn't think it would be long before a BM advocate showed up to tell us how great it will be over there, you know before anything has been proven like whether the servers will be able to scale to tens of thousands of people, or whether they will actually gain as much inertia as SL in terms of customers, especially as the hardware requirements are much higher than the basic SL user who got his PC on sale at Walmart. You know, all the unproven stuff. Not to mention that the viewer is so rudimentary it is going to need a huge investment in effort to get it up to par but hey, did we mention, again I mean, how great that graphics engine is? Really, it is great you know

Do you realize that your signature is about 4 times bigger than anybody elses here?

Actually it isn't, there are some as big or bigger, they perhaps don't post as much as me. It would be a shocker if I was unaware of how big my signatures were though wouldn't it? Thanks for letting me know  Actually they are big for a reason, see if you can guess what it is?

I'm guessing it's because you think I want a vertical half of my screen filled with your sig over and over and over instead of reading content.

/me digresses. I'll just adds to my ignore list. 'Scuse the derail, folks.

Then you would be wrong, however you'll not know that as you are now ignoring me apparently  /me wonders why you didn't just put me on ignore in the first place...hmmm.

For skirts, what's needed is an update of the 'skirt' layer of appearance so that the skirt fits the body shape better and doesn't need glitch pants. I make and wear 'system' skirts and dresses still, and they work fine if you use a modified version of your shape to compensate for skirt poofiness, but it would be nice not to have to do that.
No matter what you do to your shape, the skirt does not fit snug at the waist - and that is just plain stupid. And who the hell thought that a jacket layer being inside the skirt layer was a good idea?

I just turn off sigs in the User CP..... Never see anything useful.

As for SL every year they promise all kinds of stuff... Right now their priority is making phone calls available directly to SL...

Sculpties didn't even exist 2-3 years ago, let alone 3-4 years..

Straylight was selling sculpty ground covers in August 2007. Sculpties were introduced in April 2007.

Re: Avatar mesh... As others have said, it certainly wouldn't be difficult to offer a choice of meshes to use, if people don't want to ditch their Inventories. Revamping the mesh has been a suggestion in JIRA since Nov 2007.

Please for the love of all that is blingy.. don't forget Neck Attachment Points! So, our necklaces actually hang around our necks rather than our boobs!

For over two (or 3, or 4, or more!) years we've been waiting for:

Sculpties that actually reflect the intricate work done on them by the creators in Maya/Blender,

Flexi items (hair, skirts) that are not phantom for the avatar, so skirts don't fall directly through legs when sitting,

A mesh that doesn't make us look like cartoons,

A decent Orientation Island/ New User Experience,

Improved customer relations,

Forums that reflect 2009, not 1999,

Sim crossings that don't throw us across the grid,

and many, many other suggestions/fixes/improvements.

What gives? Are you just too damned lazy, or do you really want to drive Second Life into the ground? I'm watching talented creators leaving or just giving up because they can't bear to fight your antiquated system any more. Do you care?
The really sad thing is that almost all of this was being asked for when I joined SL over 2 years ago.
:(

IIRC, more attachment points was one of the most-voted things in the old, pre-JIRA system, too. Ah.. The 'good' ol' days where LL promised to at least comment on anything that got 100 votes..

If per-avatar resource limits actually happens, and if it doesn't suck, I'm hoping this suggestion will finally get some Linden Lovin'.

(For the benefit of others or in case you really didn't ignore) How is it abuse? To be abusing it I must have broken some rule - show me which rule I broke and I will remove them. I find it highly amusing that *I* have "abused it" when using the signature feature exactly as it was intended and yet the hundreds of adverts for products in people's signatures don't constitute abuse - yeah right!

Meade no offense but Gabriele's signature is four lines and so is yours.

If the pic links in her sig are what is taking up more room, then change preferences so that pix don't automatically load. Done, simple.

I did that, because once in a while someone posts a pic others say "ewww" at, and I'd rather click on things by choice if I want to see them. So to me, her and your sig are equal in size.

Why does there have to be a rule for everything?... That kind of logic is why all our freedoms get taken away. People abuse the system and it gets a "rule".. Most forums I used over the last 10 years restrict signatures to text and limit to a few lines just for this reason. It is to bad people have to abuse the system to force the issue to make a "rule" or a "law". EDIT: Not saying your sig is bad as I have no idea what your sig looks like, just an opinion on the "a rule for everything" mentality...

Anyway, when is LL going to work on lag and rezz times? All these visual enhancements are mute if all we see is white and grey. :D

So how are my pictures abuse? What determines that? Just because somebody says it is doesn't automatically make it so, Meade says it is, I say it isn't - why do you think it is? You see I could say *your* signature is abuse too, but there has to be some determinant that makes it so doesn't there?

What's your screen resolution, Clarisas? Her sig pictures, not counting text, total about 430 pixels high...

Again, I'm not gonna disable it for everybody just because one person decides to abuse it. Nobody else abuses them to the extent she does so why should they have to pay?

Oh!! The "it's not explicitly illegal so it's ok" defense!!

a) as sigs aren't restricted (which counts as a "rule" or a "law";), it isn't abuse.

b) this isn't one of those forums you refer to.
