I am partnered in my profile. My profile also CLEARLY states that I am happily married in RL and SL to the same peson. It does nothing to stop men from hitting on me constantly. It makes me very uncomfortable. Even when I say I don't give out personal info, and that I'm married, they don't stop. I usually end up booting them off my land, or doing a quick TP home if I am somwhere else. It really does ruin SL alot for me. And my character is not slutty looking or wearing revealing clothing. I don't get it. I don't like it. Next time try this... If after you've said you're not interested and you're involved with someone, the guy keeps begging to the point you think of leaving ... start copying and pasting everything he says to you in IM into the main chat window. When he realizes that everyone in chat range just saw him beg for sex, guaranteed he'll be the one to leave first with his tail between his legs. _____________________

Quick Partnering "Technical Question"
09-11-2007 11:05
I've seen the "Partner Proposal Form" on the website. When a party completes that to send to another:
1. Does the recipient receive the proposal in world or via email? 2. Once accepted, how long does it take for the partner's name to appear in the profile? Thanks in advance. *smiles* On the subject of getting hit on, I can't say I've ever had a big problem with that (maybe due to staying within a group of friends or the places I go..or don't go...) but the times that I have - MUTE is my friend. No muss, no fuss, no wasting energy speaking to idjits....just mute and move on. *grins* |

Actually, the recipient receives an email with a link to his/her account information online. Once there, they get the formal proposal and get to click Yes or No. They can also write a reply message. The partnership takes effect immediately after accepting.

I know someone who didn't like being hit on and also no desire in 'dating' in SL. She created an Alt specifically to partner with... worked wonderfully for her ![]() I found that it seems to have no effect. Women completely ignore it then when I reject them they ask why I would do such a stupid thing as being monogamous in SL. Sometimes when I point out that my SL partner is my RL partner they get downright rude. It's very frustrating. |

Looks like it's pretty much instantaneous! |

They want you for who you know? Dang social climbers. LOL. I've only come within 10m of a Linden, I've never met Anshe, but I did have a nice conversation with Desmond Shang one day, but who hasn't? Actually, what I meant was the crowd I hang with seems to have only sex on their minds. Then again, I guess that happened from the first moment I logged into SL. |

The crowd you hang with is a bunch of skanks. Isn't that all of SL, though? Then again, not really. There's that crowd, and then the people who make stuff for that crowd to buy. |

Of coruse there is a lot of promiscuity Lets see - you really cant get pregnant, you cant get a disease, SL Sex almost NEVER leads to RL complications. Its like a sooped up version the 70's. |

Ummm...the only "bonus" to being partnered is the "bonus" LL gets when you pay them the partnership fee...and then, later, after you realize what a deranged, sick, twisted monkey you've glued onto your own back...ANOTHER fee...so you can be "virtually divorced".
I'm sure one of the next updrages will allow you to issue virtual restraining orders. |

Major liability issues with partnerships. My suggestion is to form a corporation or an LLC. The LLC is taxed just like a partnership with the benefits of personal liability protection. Make sure you document it carefully, though. As for corporations, the traditional wisdom that an S-corp is the preferred form for a small corporation is slowly giving way to a new school of thought that holds that you can achieve the same tax liability with a carefully formed C-corp, but that you have some added benefits of being able to retain capital pre-tax and considerably more flexibility for future growth, including the ability to issue multiple classes of stock, no ceiling on the number of shareholders, and the ability to bring in off-shore venture capital by utilizing non-resident alien shareholders.
Really, partnerships are a poor way to do business. I would avoid them in almost all situations. _____________________
