Well my wedding set hasn't stopped it and that doesn't require a right click to see.

I love the idea that it would stop men hitting on you.

Do you reckon it would work in rl too?

It doesnt stop men from hitting on you.

What it does is give you is a convenient way to say no.

Guy - "hi babes wanna go find a sechs room"

You - "I cant, Im partnered"

Guy - "okay .. sorry"

Where if your not partnered its more like

Guy - "hi babes wanna go find a sechs room"

You - "No, Not interested"

Guy - "WHY NOT?"

You - "Becuase I dont want to"

Guy - "Are you stuck up or something?"

You - "Get lost , loser":

Stopping the hits
03-21-2007 11:09
This is kind of a subtext to the original question but ladies, if you REALLY want guys to stop hitting on you, wear glasses! Dorothy Parker was right. It stops about 90% of the hits, especially the cruder ones. There is a downside to it if you're single. But I regard the glasses as a "sieve" . They tend to filter out the idiots, or at least a majority of them. They probably filter out some nice guys too, though.

However, happy ending maybe. I met one of my neighbors who is a thoroughly charming and intelligent man - a degreed profesional in RL. He LIKES my glasses and my intelligence and my independent spirit. Nooooo, he hasn't popped the question yet but we'll see.

Believe me, glasses work!!

I DO read profiles. they can tell a lot.

LOL! There are a lot of times that i prefer the second option as it can be quite entertaining though I do find it against my nature to have a Battle Of Wits against unarmed opponents.

On a serious note, I love reading peoples profiles, you find out about a hell of a lot of interesting stuff. I do it now even if I have no intention of talking to anyone.

I love reading all the profiles I can just to find new places to go. Actually most of them bore me because they are full of sissys and Gorean stuff. I just wondered if being partnered might actually attract some people the same way some have a fetish for glasses. I listed my RL wife's account as my partner even though she never uses it. I don't know what difference it makes because I would not describe my AV as "dateable".

Now see, your name alone makes me want to right click you.

Unfortunately my profile is somewhat out of date since my SL access is restricted right now.

ROFL. A few of these are comedy gold.

Benefits to partnering? Umm, I am partnered and can't really think of any

Maybe the SL saying should be: Noobs don't make passes at girls who wear glasses.

Maybe wearing of glasses implies intelligence and sophistication, two things that are a huge turn-off to noobs and jerks.

I sometimes wear glasses, or sunglasses, because I like the look. Whether that is how others see it, I don't know. But wearing glasses definitely gives an outfit a different look and attitude.

But I digress from the original topic.

I don't see myself being partnered anytime soon. I try to never say "never", but I've found cyber relationships to be fleeting.

Intelligent and sophisicated? The glasses may give that impression, but I am actually probably only slightly above average in intelligence bu tI have alot of education. Sophisticated? No,not really. I wear them in RL but in SL I dont need them. I kind of use them as a form of jewelry, therightones can add to a look. I think the effect they have onjerks is that I willnot put up with alot of nonesense and that I amnot TOTALLY stupid stupid. I like making that impression. As I said before, they may have worked too well - not many men were interested. Of course it may be that I am just boring. This IS a distinct posibility. However, things continue to ge very well withthe intelligent nice neighbor. We are now in an exclusive dating relationship and discussed partnership in abstract terms.

I believe that anyone who doesn't enjoy getting numerous sexual invitations should dress conservatively and wear glasses. I predict the unwanted attention will drop by at least 80%

I would like to see a counter added to the profile to keep track of how many times someone's been partnered.

Some people can see it as "keeping score"

Hiya Bilbo :D

Funny thing partnering. You can be happily married to him in RL and hating him in SL ;)

Some people don't read profiles?

I'm a total profilist... I get a lot of "particle lab" questions... the first thing I look at is the person's profile.

no pic, no groups, no text... I figure they're a tourist that will be gone in a day or two. I don't diss them for it... but typically make technical answers a bit more "hint" like than "how-to" like.

Is the profile in broken English? Might have a non-native English speaker... I tend to curb my use of metaphor and speak as plainly and properly as possible hoping. Maybe it'll give google translate an easier time converting my answer into something they understand. =)

The groups someone is in affect my reply too... sometimes folks are clearly in get-rich-quick like groups... I tend to make them work harder for answers. I don't charge... if they're going to consume my time and profit from it I'm going to make them do more work for it. ;)

I have to admit though... I don't often look at the partner field though.
