I hate to say it, but during the migrations/upgrade I would probably close the neverending thread, purely for technical reasons. The board's database was never intended to hold 3,362 page and constantly growing single thread. (But, amazingly the server seems to have no trouble with it!).

Make it general discussion. And a modicum of respsect for the thread writer/poster. A ban on the refrain "if you think this is biching you should see other discussion sites". A stalled finger on th ekeyboard when you ask yourself "just WHO i steh person typing this post?". Some wit and humour. Even some allowance for four letter words - any one would think this world was a wooden-top land (bbc child prog. from 50s).
But open it up.
And dont trust posters whose tag mentions anything about "sarcasm". They ar ewolves in sheep's clothing.

There should not even be any technical reasons in this day and age of hardware and databases. I manage databases that have way over 1,000,000 comment items tied together sequentially -- which is really all a thread is.

Actually, all grid wide stuff is considered PG, including profiles, etc.

Anyway, ya, general discussion. A bit more involvement somehow with LL on the forums. updated software so that we don't have to use hackery to get functions that were common place in 1996.

Seriously, it would be beneficial to non-native speakers when people would try to type as well readable as they can. In general I can read every posting, but I can imagine that a lot of people have trouble enough reading English without deliberate errors...

Another serious suggestion. Which abbreviations/acronyms/initialisms/slang/mumbojumbo should be allowed/encouraged/recommended in teh forums and which shouldn't be? Or should we start a separate thread on "things that make me go AARRGGHH"?
