Franquency: a measure of how often you eat hot dogs.

So.... Franquency and mirth ...

... the three wise kings fed baby Jesus hot dogs and told him jokes ???

I'm so confused. I had to look up what Canadian Bacon is. This in the Wiki,

"What the US terms Canadian bacon is actually back bacon rolled in cornmeal. In Canada it is called peameal bacon."

Peameal Bacon? WTH is that? I always assumed back bacon was that slice of rubber in a McDonald's Egg McMuffin. This has me curious enough to go to the butcher's tonight for a (hopefully free) sample.

The things you learn on forums...

we call that fat back in the states

Prety darn close if not exact.

Regular American bacon comes from the belly. Back bacon comes from ... well, take a wild guess :) How it's cured is also a little different with back bacon being closer to what we would call a ham.

Canadian bacon are those coaster-sized slices of ham that you get on a pizza with pineapple. I don't know why it's called Canadian bacon. I've been to BC several times and they had regular strips of bacon when I ate breakfast there. I've never heard of peameal bacon, and trust me - I know my pork products :D . The breakfast sausage was different than what I was used to, though. Delicious, but not the same. The eggs appeared to be normal chicken eggs and I'm pretty sure the milk came from cows and the OJ from oranges, so the remainder of the breakfast was very reassuring. No chicory in the coffee, thank God :bleah:

I don't have time to read this whole thread. Was the OP's question answered?

Not yet, I don't believe. But we're working on it. Eventually we will probably cover what she asked before deleting the original post.

You had breakfast in Canada and didn't have maple Syrup? I can't believe they didn't throw you out of the country right then and there. You might as well say that hockey is for sissys that like watered down beer.

You must be one tough hombre.

HA! More sports where the players need to wear armour plating.

Pansies.

I like hockey, and I certainly had maple syrup. As for beer - I'm prefer Kokanee to Molson, but either is just fine. Just don't take me curling. It's Canada's equivalent of cricket. It makes no sense and I can't figure out why anybody in their right mind would enjoy playing it, much less watching it. You have to use a broom for Christ's sake! What's next, competitive dish-washing? Olympic laundry folding?

Latecomer to this thread...

As a rugby player, I concur. If you can't play without protection,well...

And for the record, I prefer Irish bacon.

You play rugby? Then a moratorium on lame hooker gags needs to be declared.

OK, this just looks like pork chops without the bone to me.

It is. Pork chops are made from one end of the loin. Back bacon is made from the same bit, but cured (that's what makes bacon bacon).

What rugby do you play; League, where they stop for a rest every 30 seconds, or proper rugby?

Since when was blood sausage Irish? Just about every country in Europe has a tradition of blood sausage.

Seriously, Conan, Thank you. I'm still not too sure about the 'Canadian' part, but your three pictures really helped clarify pork for me.

Rugby is cool - I prefer Soccer(Football) - I also don't get Curling but I often find myself watching it on Sunday afternoons on the CBC. Hard! Hard! Hurry Haaaarrd!!! It's hilarious!

Do you remember the Wigan v Bath home and away series a few years back? Wigan demolished Bath at League, then were beaten by a far narrower margin at Union.

Back in the days when I played Union, I could spend entire games on the wing with nary a splash of mud on my pristine kit. I imagine I would spend those twice a minute rest sessions in League getting my face comprehensively kicked in by some big oaf with nothing better to do.

That's why I'm glad I'm a prop. I get to be said big oaf.

I played league for one season once at school. I had a back injury and by the time I'd recovered team selection for that year had been and gone. So me and some others formed a team to play league just to see what it was like. We played against the school team at the end of the season and beat them - I was embarrassed for them.

Ahhh, now we are talking sports... Soccer and Lacrosse. Rugby isn't bad.. but Curling is just below golf. Gold would be ok if you were allowed to hit the other players with your clubs...

The beauty of this thread is that I just have to read the last few posts and not feel bad about lacking context... Haggis anyone?
