From: Brenda Connolly Spending 25K on a dessert would only impress me as to a man's stupidity. You want to impress me. take me to Nordstom's, or to buy a little convertable, or Las Vegas. If I became the richest person in the world I could never justify spending that kind of money on food. My god.. how wasteful. And Elora, I know you were kidding. It just occures to me that there are people out there who would do this. Imagine how much food that could buy starving people. Wait.. off my soapbox. Fun thread here.. sorry.

From: Damien1 Thorne I would have thought more like Lily Tomlin's "Edith Ann" Oh, if yer gonna go dat route, can I at least get Gilda Radner's "Judy Miller?" (But not "L'il Markie!" Mari

Mac, I'm with you completely. I looked at that picture and was horrified. For one thing, the obviousness of the waste. Plus, the excess of it in all other ways. Plus, I don't even care for sweets all that much either. Truthfully, if a guy wanted to buy me the desert of MY dreams? It would be a platter of artisan cheese, with bits of honey comb, some crusty bread with fruit in it and a good glass of red zinfindel port

And you could get a ton of change back from 25K too.

I am as self indulgent as they come, but spending that kind of money on something that you are going to eat is just ridiculous. just think how many pairs of shoes that would buy....

Yea, about $24970, more or less BTW, I looked at your jewelry just now - you have some lovely things! I'll have to make a point to buy a few. I don't know why I didn't think to click on the link until just now.

The only place I know of is on Staten Island and well, running out there is just out of the question unless we're visiting family. Nothing seems to be like I remember as a kid anymore. It's all made with corn syrup instead of sugar now. /me makes a point to pull out her ice cream maker, and just start doing it from scratch

If there is a Rita's near you, they aren't bad as well.

But, not quite what I want. I'm sure you know, since we grew up with the same kind of ices. You know the texture and style I'm looking for It does ok in a pinch tho. I have used my ice cream maker at times, the flavor is great, but the texture never is quite right. Plus, I have no idea where to buy the little paper cups that fall apart in your mouth Quite the Catch 22 of deserts lol.

In celebration of my 1500th Post, everyone is welcome to my house for homemade ice cream!!! /me passes out bowls and spoons and puts out the chocolate and rainbow sprinkles, cherries, fresh whipped cream (none of that aersol stuff or even worse, frozen crap in my house), nuts and hot fudge for all on the table. Ok what flavors? Chocolate? Vanilla? Strawberry? Peach? Buttermilk Lemon (a house speciality which sounds odd but is oh so yummy!)? Make a nice line, no pushing!
