*waves to Mari as she floats overhead* *smiles*

I won a Cubey jet pack the other day! Can't wait til his new parachute comes out! *smiles*

lol, Mari...your quiet weekends are busier than my busy weekends! *grins*

I was thinking as I wrote it all up, "wait, this doesn't seem as quiet as I thought."

The new 'chute is pretty cool. Glad to see Cubey really back to building, too.

Hmm. I suspect that "tuque" is MORE correct, but this one is complicated. The Concise OED doesn't even have an entry for "tuque"; the full OED entry for "tuque" lists it as

At the same time, the OED also lists under "toque" (as its third meaning) "Canad.='tuque', and gives a series of examples ranging up to 1977 from Canadian sources spelling it "toque."

Soooooo . . . I take it that both are acceptable for the knit cap, but that "tuque" is more common in this context.

Guess I'm really just a faux Canuck . . . :(
Perhaps you didn't check the Wikipedia entry?

"The word is etymologically related to the name of the chef's toque, although it is sometimes incorrectly spelled toque instead of tuque (still pronounced /tuk/) by assimilation, or occasionally touque, although the latter is not considered a standard spelling by the Canadian Oxford Dictionary"

Pep (Presumably "assimilation" means "If a billion flies say cowdung tastes good, who are we to argue.";)

This is what happens when you let the groom order the wedding cake (linked rather than actually shown cuz not totally PG):

Actually, the hard copy of the current edition runs to . . . what? 24 LARGE volumes? God help the person it lands on.

I hope you brought a shopping buggy to help trundle it away.

(I have free access now to the online edition *gloat gloat gloat*) :D

Hmm - I do have a male alt, though I don't think he has changed from the first top and jeans I ever put him in.

FYI -- Simone does sell men's clothes at the Style Starts Here location.

And a clear-out sale at Moonshine:

"I've cleaned out some things in the store and have a room of 60 items on sale for 10L.
These will be available thru the end of November, then retired."

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Imogen/156/96/23

Mostly tops, but some dresses and pant outfits and some beach wear. There are some men's items here also.

My next offering to the women -- a pink diamond hunt at A Piece of Candy, thru Nov 21. 20 pink diamonds, each containing a skin from the following:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Oamaru%20Bay/183/53/22
.

BTW - this is not really a **hunt** since the diamonds are just laying around, easy to see without much effort at all.

Ok, I did not know about the 'all sizes'. Hopefully that was the issue. Thanks Lil, trying this again, see if it's the bigger one.

LMAO Is a HAT. Like a big texan brim. And a stick, yeah, not exactly a crook, jes a stick. It looks like Pathfinder's avatar, mostly, in SL. I've never seen him without a hat and those glowy eyes. In rl, well he's rather different than that. I met him at SLCC, he was on a panel with me.

Breaking news!

The New Oxford American Dictionary's 2009 Word of the Year is:

unfriend – verb – To remove someone as a ‘friend’ on a social networking site such as Facebook.

As in, “I decided to unfriend my roommate on Facebook after we had a fight.”

“It has both currency and potential longevity,” notes Christine Lindberg, Senior Lexicographer for Oxford’s US dictionary program. “In the online social networking context, its meaning is understood, so its adoption as a modern verb form makes this an interesting choice for Word of the Year. Most “un-” prefixed words are adjectives (unacceptable, unpleasant), and there are certainly some familiar “un-” verbs (uncap, unpack), but “unfriend” is different from the norm. It assumes a verb sense of “friend” that is really not used (at least not since maybe the 17th century!). Unfriend has real lex-appeal.”
