Good Morning. A Happy Thanksgiving to our cousins to the North. And a Happy Holiday to us here in the States who may have one, which I will not name as to keep the PC Brigades from wadding up their panties.
Columbus Day -- I'll name it cuz since I work for a government establishment, I should get all of these type holidays.

I don't care if people like him or not -- I just want the damn day off work with pay.

Lou Dobbs will come and burst a blood vessel on you. He has a fit every time there's a holiday like this.

I love Lou Dobbs.

Ok - had my 2 cups of coffee and did a bit of reading and posting. Off to actually get dressed and tackle the basement. Will give an update in a bit.

Today marks the 150th anniversary of one of the greatest political and legal declarations in American history: the October 12, 1859 decree by Joshua Norton I, Emperor of the United States of America and Protector of Mexico.

I love the story of Emperor Norton I. I still wish the San Francisco Bay Bridge was named for him.

*smiles at Mari* Wow...you outdid yourself with this episode of Mari's Weekend Update!

That must have been very exciting to participate in the "imagine Peace Tower" event. 95 avatars!!!

Loved the Harry Potter pic...well, I loved all your pics! Each time I read about your activities, and view your pics...I just warm up inside, and smile. Thank you, Mari. :)

Yer welcome!

It was real exciting really. Actually, the energy at the event was really quite cool. Everyone was so into the spirit of the moment. Quite fun and moving too.

Glad you liked all the piccies! :-D

From: Seven Okelli
@Mari - what a weekend! It's funny you mentioned Yoko Ono, because Ann OToole mentioned her just last week in a post about avatar names. She said there is only one "Ono" in SL. I like her avatar.

You really get around, girl!

I was makin up for the last couple busy buildin' weeks. :-)

An ya, only one Ono, and that's Yoko. Kinda a shame in a way, cuz that would be a fun last name for many. :-)

FFS - A neighbor just knocked on my door. She heard the sound of water spraying and came to check. I have a burst pipe just outside the house, a flooded yard (no biggie), a flooded basement, and my husband is out of town on business.

Guess I get to play with the wetvac now.

*sigh*

/me nods

Especially if any of your sub floor got wet. And it will need to be sprayed with a high strength mold killer. Even after I got all the water out of my kitchen, Servpro had several huge heaters, dehumidifiers, and fans all running to get the moisture out of the house. They will take readings to make sure that the place is really drying out.

Only a portion got wet and part of that is still just concrete. The part that had some flooring installed is being ripped out to be changed anyway. By this morning, pretty much all of the water on the floor had drained away or dried up. The biggest pain is that on that side of the basement we had a large area rug on the floor -- and that is soaked. It will take a while with the wet vac to get that dry enough to lug upstairs and out to the sun to fully dry. Not enough cost involved in it all to call the insurance company.

I spent today wandering about the Star Trek Museum, working on my next blog post.

Here is the computer lab. And I though 21st Century computers were confusing.

The Planetarium

I decided to visit the theatre to catch a showing of Wrath of Khan

I think I had too much popcorn, so I went to sick bay. Just like in our century, doctors in the future seem to like to make their patients wait

I managed to get enough water out of the area rug so that I could haul it upstairs and outside without it dripping much. Plopped it in what little sun there is for it to finish drying. Luckily we are on a warming trend this week and each day is only going to get warmer, cuz even with sunshine, I think it might take a bit to dry at 45 degrees.

I now also know why my husband cusses out whoever did the initial remodeling down there. The floor drain is in the utility area -- however, the walled that in such a way that you cannot get any large object (like a wet vac) to the actual drain. So, we have to tip it or lift it onto the toilet to drain it -- pain in the ass if the wet vac is very full.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Threadsters, especially those of you actually in Canada.

Great pics, Marianne. Reading about your SL is more interesting than living my FL lol. The part about Yoko Ono was especially interesting. I have always liked her.

I did get to go to a great rl party yesterday with a really good band. It was right next door so it was as if the party came to me!

There, I said it. Let the panties hit the floor. :)

And to really get them going, I am flying my Gadsden Flag at half staff in memory of Robert E. Lee.
I prefer to call them "underpants" "panties" is a baby word used to demean women. (If Brenda wants to wave hers though I'm ok with HER calling them whatever she likes.)

Ever was it thus.

The evil that Emperor Norton abolished, of course, was the Congress of the United States of America.

All in all it sounds as if you handled the situation most capably. Hope that sun co-operates, Lil

Hmmph! You'll be fine as long as you continue to wear only the gold or blue uniforms. Take two aspirin and hail me in the morning.

(Someday I gotta go to one of those Trek sims.)
