Okay. Once I was driving with two friends over the mountains and it was snowing. The car was all out of windshield washer fluid, and all the salt from the road was turning the windshield white. When we finally saw a gas station, we pulled off and I ran in to find some fluid for the windshield.

They didn't have any, but they did have ammonia. So I bought it and ran back out. My two friends were sitting in the car with the engine running. I told them what I got and one said, "Don't put that stuff in the reservoir, just pour it over the windshield." Then she rolled up her window.

I poured it evenly and liberally across the windscreen. My friends inside the car started waving at me and making all sorts of hand gestures. I figured they were trying to show me spots I missed, so I'd pour some over where they seemed to be waving. Pretty soon the bottle was empty, and I held it up to show them and went off to throw it away.

When I got in the car, my eyes snapped wide open. The car was like a huge smelling salts capsule. All the ammonia smell had come in through the vents. It was too cold to open the windows and let it out.

Turns out my friends were waving at me to stop.

We were crying and laughing the rest of the way home, and shouting, "Woo whee!" which is what you say when your organ of smell is overpowered.

.
But was the windshield clean?

Skeet shooting... is it cruel to the skeets? Or just good back yard fun for the family?
I guess it depends on who you ask.

How do you know when sour cream goes bad?
If the police bring it home that's a sign.

Ahh, fuck you. I've seen your photos. You're no photographer and your avatar sucks.
That's rather like telling Paul Newman he's lousy at needlepoint, dear.

I have heard confession is good for the soul.
Only if you are unlucky enough to be a Catholic . . .

Speaking of emailing my 14 year old. Anyone else have teenagers? Are they all miserable and stay in their rooms all the time when home and are only nice and happy with their friends? I remember being like that too until I hit about 17. Then one day I came out of my room and was normal.:p
Yep, that sounds about right.

Congrats!! I missed the first land rush.. they announced it 20 minutes before it happened.

Also, thanks for the Win in my second zombie raising! :) I think we need to go through all the old threads, revive the good ones, and show how much good information that is in the forums!

:( *hugs*

but i have to interject and say 'not all of them'. i know of at least one who is too fab to fit into that suck category. especially after tolerating me when i've been a moody, pouty, mhard to understand girl.
Yes, you are correct - not all of them suck. Just all the ones that I seem to get involved with.

Feeling a bit tearful at our impending demise.
Do we have a date yet or anything more solid than folks just assuming it is just around the corner?

I've been falling behind in the forums since I cannot get there from work anymore.

Before the forum police show up, should we go back to every old but open thread and necropost it? Shall we raise from the dead every topic that hasn't been locked?

OMG- this is BRILLIANT!! :D

Yes, yes, yes.

If you are lucky, it ends when they go to college but for boys probably not until they move out of the house permanently and maybe even a bit longer.

This catholic animus is not doing your blackened soul any good either. Why are you intent of fostering a festering and diseased social pariah as your dominant personality? What joy does this love of being hated bring? Call it morbid curiosity but today I am interested to know what drives a human to such depths of self-loathing. I have my hypothesis but I want to see if it bears true so I will keep it to myself for now.

My son is 24 and has been out on his own for 4 years. BS in Chemistry and now working on Chemical Engineering. He calls home *at least* once a day. But yes, when he lived at home as a teenager it was doom gloom and never out of his room. I sometimes wondered if he even lived there at times.

Yay! Got my Burning Life camp today!

Yay! Congrats Marianne. I actually saw you off in the distance last night when I scored a camp for all of 30 minutes. I bumped into a friend during the land rush that I came a few minutes late for and thought it was all but a lost cause. To my surprise, my friend tp'd me to her location where she had just grabbed a large camp parcel when she suddenly disappeared. I got another tp and she quickly told me to click on the land thingy. We had two neighbouring large parcels and received our invites to the BL builders group!!! Part of me thought it was a bit odd that we had claimed parcels so late after the opening but we just chatted about the cool thngs we were going to do and did a happy dance on the playa. It was only a few minutes later that we realized they had screwed up the land grab by allowing people to click on parcels that were not truly available. We were subsequently ejected from the group and had our parcels reclaimed.

First the agony of my Lite Brite experience, and now the thought of having a Burning Life Camp snatched away from me ... WILL THE TRAUMA NEVER END :(
