I've been hanging out in SLU a bit, sort of avoiding teh dramaz over here. You guys know what I'm talking about.

Right ho, just wanted to say howdy and I love you all! I'm going to actually LOG IN TO SL one of these days. *gasp*

First time someone goes to SLU to AVOID drama.

Ok, OK. I didn't think anyone would be interested.

I drove through a frigging Monsoon to get to The Hilton, and stopped to grab some java at the Staryuck's in the Lobby. *As it was before noon, the bar wasn't open.* I was at the vendor area looking for something to get for You Know Who to sign and the power went out. It came back on a minute later, then went out again. I swear, I looked out the window and it was raining sideways, in circles, and just about any other direction. It looked like the scene in Movie #4 at Starfleet Command when the Probe arrived at earth. I even said out loud "Oh my God! The Whale Probe!"

The lights came back on a minute or so later and stayed on. Inside the main room, was a Q and A with Suzie Plakson, who we all know was Worf's wife K'Ehleyr as well as Dr Seylar in TNG, and Barry Jenner, who was Admiral Ross in DS9. They talked a lot about how even being a small character on Star Trek can have a lasting impact on one's career and how much they both enjoyed the experience. Suzie is just a dynamo, she is a fabulous cabaret singer as well, and is just stunning, at 6"3" with gorgeous curly red hair.
Jenner was interesting as well, he talked of how he totally botched his audition, and didn't think he'd get the part, but was absolutely thrilled when he did.

After a brief break it was time. Of course the room was packed, and a great video tribute was played. Nimoy came out to a thunderous ovation, did the Vulcan Salute, waited for the cheers to subside. He looked great, with his now familar scruffy beard and glasses, casually dressed. His first line was..."So, anybody seen any good movies lately?"

I mentioned this briefly in another thread, but if there are any blokes wanting free short hair. MADesigns just put out the fatpack of their 'Slide' hair on the 5th level of their store, free. You'll find it on the east wall, by the artwork. Nice style, too, and from the group notice it looks as though it'll be a permanent freebie, so it's a good one to recommend to newbies that cross your path.

Thank you for the good wishes re mom. Doc saw her this morning and said she had to go to the hospital. I came home briefly but will be heading back shortly. They did tests and were waiting on results. All we know so far is she has a bad leg infection.

Not a clue. But you are missed.

So sorry your Mom has to go into the hospital, Amara. I'll be holding you both in my heart. *Hugs*

I might start stopping back in now and then. I miss you guys!

@ LittleMe - my mom is doing great! Surgery was successful and she just finished her last round of chemo. She's bald, but happy. Doc says they got all of the cancer. Hooray!

@ Brenda - I totally cried the first time I saw Nimoy on stage at a convention. I mean, I was in love with the man in my pre-teen angst years. How could I NOT cry? *happy sigh* I love Star Trek.

Oops didn't have to wait long. This is so great. K'Ehleyr is one of my all time favorite charactors!! Oh my goodness she's been on Eli Stone!! Is it possible she was also the daughter of the guy that Roxanna Troi feel in love with but who had to kill himself instead of marrying her because that was the custom on his planet for people his age?

And to think they even had special effects with the weather outside!!

You never disappoint.
