So I was out shopping a bit ago -- nobody else in the store and I'm just flying around looking at the dresses. All of a sudden I get an IM saying "Hi". Now, I never thought that was a horrid way to start a conversation -- I have a tendency to start conversation like that in RL also. I always thought saying "Hi" first was polite.

Anyway, I respond back with "Hi", while looking around to see who has arrived - the name does not really indicate male or female. There is a guy on the ground below me, so I drop myself down to a lower height - partly out of politeness and partly so he is not staring up my skirt.

He then offers a brilliant "out shopping?", which I figure doesn't even deserve the "yes" that I am polite enough to respond with. He immediately follows with:
"let me take you out dancing on my roof top"
"under the stars"

ETA: I forgot to include the profile text that about caused me to fall out of my chair laughing. I often look up the profiles on these folks because they do provide such good entertainment:

Hey maybe we should push him and Annabel together.

You are joking aren't you. I'm beginning to think that the people from the forum take pleasure in taking the piss out of newbies while pretending to be helpful. Thanks anyway. You can learn a lot from what people don't tell you.

Well, I never venture into this thread...but saw the last poster on the main roster.....and was wondering what happened to you, Annabel.

You got a TON of advice from people who were VERY helpful to you. You didn't like any of the advice.....after about 4 pages of not liking the advice....and not issuing a Thank You for responding and for the help.....whether you like the advice or not.....a thread will take on a mind of it's own.....which will include suspicions of people using alts to stir things up.

If you're going to open a thread, and ask for advice...I doubt that anyone will care whether or not you use it....as long as you acknowledge that you appreciate the effort.

On ANY message board, on ANY topic....a new person is going to take some heat....just the way it works....part of getting past this is to cordially acknowledge that you appreciate the efforts of those who took some time to help you.

Welll of course I am joking - he obviously thinks he IS god's gift to women, all of them -- and you specifically said you did not want that.

The Urban Dictionary explanation is a little curt, and doesn't even explain why taking the p*** can be euphemised as taking the mick. If you country cousins want more insight into some of our slang, this is the best article I have ever found on origins of British/English swearwords. Be warned, it refers to literature that existed before Columbus.

I have not shared much of my real life with my fellow threadies but I took this picture tonight and decided... why not share? I remember someone admiring a kitty pic of a cat with green eyes. This is my sweetest cat. He gives me so much love and a great deal of joy:

Pep: was your post meant to include a link? I'd love to read said article.

Lula: very pretty cat. I'm predisposed to appreciate green eyes on all critters. Perhaps because I'm in that club myself.

Jackie send a link to SL's largest airport (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Namcha/82/194/95).

I went up to check on a pilot who was flying upside down.

This is my most complicated dress, btw.

This picture never came out the way I meant. My head was right near the pilot's. I don't know why I look faraway.

@ Lula - what a lovely kitty! Long time ago, as a kid- I had a pretty one like that named Rocky.

@ Seven - Wow- heck of a dress- it has its own x,y,z coordinates I imagine :D

Happy Sunday to all!

Good morning everyone! So finally it looks like after defragging and doing other stuff, my puter is happy again. Wouldn't even boot for a few days. Needless to say I backed up my entire iTunes library and all my GIMP stuff once I got it booted. It's still a bit jumpy with the internet connection, but hey. I'll take what I can get.

I picked up a drop spindle

and some wool

and have started an adventure into spinning. So far I've said "whoops" only 20 times or so. The eventual goal is to get a Certain Someone to build me a frame loom

so that I can play around. You know what's funny? We've been researching this stuff on the internet, and I remarked the other day that it was sort of odd to be using the world's leading technology to be researching the world's most primitive forms of spinning and weaving. Pretty cool huh?

That is an awesome article, full of interesting tidbits that I did not know.

And H2G2 should be required reading for everyone.

The snowpack on the yard has only melted down to about 5-6 inches, so I still get to avoid yard work today. A bit of housework and such, but otherwise the day is mine to play as I wish. :)

Wishing all a good morning/evening as the case applies.

Oooh!!!! Exciting :) Big fan of spinning and such Oryx :) I have a couple of drop spindles myself even made one once. I have also had the opportunity to try a spinning wheel- It is a lot harder than it looks. I have never been even close to a real working loom of any sort but it is my hope one day to do that. A simple Navaho frame loom seems the best do-it-yourself option. In world I was able to fulfill that fantasy-

I hope you-know-who makes one for you :) BTW- long ago- i use to collect my dog's hair and i did spin enough to crochet a bit of it- and so you know- dog brushes will not work for carding- I know I tried. Spinning is an expensive hobby!

I have a Japanese dress, not a kimono, another kind of dress that has 24 pieces. In fact that is the name of it, 24 piece dress. By the time I get it all on I missed the function and it's time for Treasure to go to bed. Just give me simplicity!

Yesterday, I 'primmed down'. Since I came to SL 2 years ago, I've had big, beautiful, fancy houses. 3 stories at least, lotta glass, lotta 'stuff' inside. Yesterday I got rid of it all and went Fae. I'm now the proud denizen of a lovely faery treehouse, with 3 rooms and 83 prims. I got rid of a lot of things that strive to look 'realistic' or from photos, and went with the 'fantastical' SL creations, more the faery, elvin look. Am really loving it right now.

I know Honeybear is dealing with this feeling right now too, as I saw her on Friday night at the Hangout, right after she changed her gorgeous supermodel looks to a pink tiny teddybear. Seems around 2 years is the time people start feeling the urge to branch out and do something different than whatever they've done, thus far?

Anyway, as of today I'm still human, but feeling the pull of fast beating faery wings............
