*wear best military uniform and make sure brass and medals are polished*
Ladies and gentlemen, fellow shareholders, members of the board, I stand before you here today to announce that we are nearing the end of our 100 year plan to overthrow the country. When we conceived of our eventual goal in the back alleys of the Chicago meat markets, America was in her youth. The smell of power, fate and manifest destiny permeated the air. The world was ours to take.
There are men who are content to be men, and there are men who are driven to be more. Men for whom mere success has a hollow ring, a bitter taste. Men who are driven not just to lead, but to master the wills of others, and, being called to such greatness, rewrite the course of history. Such were the men who founded this great corporation.
Taking their cue from the opium dens of Asia and the common street thugs and drug dealers of the streets of Chicago, these men saw not criminals, but corporate visionaries. They adapted their grocery selling techniques - offering low prices and great service to the people most susceptible - people who needed to eat. Now, with the 21st century still in it's infancy, we face an America addicted to food and pharmaceuticals. An America that must eat. An America that cannot survive without antibiotics and athlete's foot cream. An America that is, in no small part due to the visions of those giants who came before us, ripe for the picking (insert evil laugh).
Our plan for 2008 is simple. Raise prices. Raise them WAY up. The Cartel of Grocery Stores and Pharmacies (tm) will squeeze the people until they scream for mercy, fall to their knees begging for apples, canned beans, fresh seafood and Viagra. The hatred they feel at being made to pay for these illicit pleasures can be re-directed. On whose head do we place the blame? The Arabs! With their scary headwear and their pricy oil, we have no choice but to deny our customers the comfort of soda pop and snack cakes.
America will feel the pain. Screaming in agony, they will turn to us for solace. Oh, can't we spare a bag of potatoes? A bottle of pills to cure the clap? Some tortilla chips? NO! But we can offer them a solution. If America wants to continue eating, all they have to do is vote. That's right, vote. Elect me president of the United States. Elect the board and our handpicked puppets to Congress. When every US Senator, Representative and elected official is a puppet of this mighty corporation, then we allow them solace. Perhaps a sale on milk, or 5% off on a bakery item. We will rule the world! The brass ring is within our grasp! This is the dawning of the age imagined by our forefathers, and *pound podium with shoe* we will NOT SQUANDER THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!
*raise hands in air to acknolwedge cheers of the might legions*
*note to self. Once in power, declare war on Safeway and Rite Aid.*

From: Trout Recreant Do you want me to delete my post? I don't want to cause trouble - just say the word. Take out the Propecia line and we should be fine. BTW, the reason we have Jewell is because Safeway fired us. The Cartel line had me on the floor. Which was not hard to get to because I threw my back out this morning.

The Clap is funnier than male pattern baldness anyway. Why do you think we're declaring war on them? The INFIDELS! With their fresh fruits and vegetables and their deli's with the delicious turkey and havarti paninis. They'll be hanging from a post by their entrails in our corporate lobby by noon! Sorry about your back - I can relate. Maybe have Osco pay you in Oxycodone. Your back will still hurt, but you'll be too stoned to care.

From: Conan Godwin It allows people reach an understanding of the world at large based on an extrapolation of their own experience by following the logic that a person or object that shares certain characteristics with those that one has previously encountered will probably share other characteristics too. It is irrelevant whether this understanding of the world is accurate - it is only necessary that people think they understand the world in order for them to operate successfully in it.
If every burger joint I have encountered has given me food poisoning in the past, for example, it is logical to assume that all burger joints I encounter will do so aswell and it is not worth taking the risk that THIS one will be different.
/me does the Friday dance. Oy. This made my eyes hurt. Friday doesn't have to hurt!!!

From: Amaranthim Talon Yay! With salsa! Someone prod Yosef awake too- it can be a communal cooking experience - then we can carry some over to the god thread as an offering I was just about to say you need a good salsa or ranchero sauce for chicken omelettes. Either of these will have hundered's if not thousand's of variations. But here is a simple ranchero recipe to start with. Personally I think you need to add a little cilantro 2 lb. tomatoes 1 onion 4 Tbsp. oil 1 Tbsp. oregano 4 green chiles (or 2, 4oz cans ) 1/2 cup chicken stock to taste salt & pepper Roast tomatoes on stovetop or under the broiler, by charring the skins. Let tomatoes cool and remove the skins, but do not wash. Roast fresh chilies the same way, cool, peel and chop. Heat oil and sauté onions until soft. Add remaining ingredients including tomatoes and chilies. Simmer 15-20 minutes. Serve over eggs, chicken, pork or beef as is or puree in a food processor until smooth.

I wonder how many pages was the longest thread ever - and what the subject was. Bots, VAT, or Gor.

From: Claire Silverspar ...um, what are gorditos? I dont think I've ever seen a Taco Bell/Hell thing....They're a US thingie right? Pick any mexican food you know of. Chances are it is a totilla with cheese and meat and/or beans optional. Taco Bell is a Mexican fast food chain in the USA. A gordito is a fat boy. The Taco Bell gordito is a large burrito (which is funny since a burrito literally means a small donkey) stuffed with a salid along with the meat, beans and cheese. I know this has a lot to do with personal taste, but for me Taco Bell is to Mexican Food like Long John Silvers is to fish and chips.

Compared to the Gor movie - even Gore may be palatable...
