Someone please explain to me, how playing with dolls is equal to motherhood?

Why do little girls play with dolls?

Anyway, it doesn't say it's *equal*.

I missed him announcing. I didn't know he'd said he was leaving.... double :( :(

That was EONS ago. He said he was leaving the thread or forums I forget which.

I am out of the loop though so if he has been around here forgive me.. but he said he was leaving the thread or whatever about the time Xpods stopped. It was right after the big drama over hitting X amount of posts.

Anyway, it doesn't say it's *equal*.

And it reminds me a little of those Real Dolls that some men buy.

a) Little girls play with dolls because they are children and learning how to interact with babies and define roles which eventually will be theirs as mothers (or not, but lets assume as much). Adults "usually" don't need to play with dolls to the point where they devote an entire room to their upkeep and plan parties for them

And let us not forget little boys play with dolls too.

b) I didn't say the person said it was "equal", it was my personal opinion that these people are implying the dolls are in many ways a decent substitute for a real child without all the bother and fuss that goes with having a living, breathing baby in their life. Seems rather selfish and infantile to me on some levels. And as for those who are unable to have a child?

While I can see the use of these as ways to cope with loss in some instances (i.e. for temporary nurturing purposes perhaps) I still believe it is psychologically unhealthy and strange for a grown adult to be devoting themselves to the "upkeep" of a doll.

Get a pet to love and nuture instead if you need that kind of interaction. Collecting dolls is one thing. I happen to collect Barbie dolls but I certainly don't throw tea parties for them!

c). Eww and ummm, not so right in the head either but to each their own I suppose you are saying?

Yes, Mac is correct. Xerxes' last post in this thread was on June 22....

Oh . . . my . . . oh . ..

huge . . weight lifted . . .

I've been working on a very frustrating, annoying, tedious project since November 14th at work. It consumed my life. I had nightmares about it.

Still not completely completely finished. Probably some revisions needed. But it is out of my hands now. (until possible revisions).

It got on my nerves. Made me short-tempored. Overly-emotional. Don't think I gained any weight, though. Since slight trouble eating.

I think I aged many years.

Weight is lifted. I'm slumped over tired, but feel lighter. Years younger. Not younger than actual age, just younger than the 800 years old that I had aged to.

re: hair.

Mistress tends to have, when wearing natural colored hair as opposed to some version of purple (see picture 1), darker hair. Even darker shades of red when red.

Picture 1: August 31, 2008

Picture 2: February 3, 2008

Picture 3: December 28, 2008

Picture 4: January 2, 2009

Mistress tends to have hair around the shade in picture 4.

I do not understand the "died" comment, though blond was unexpected.

I rather like the look of picture 3. Neck up. I am not sure neck down has rezzed. Note: picture three includes blondish hair.

More than 1003 pictures of Mistress on my Flickr. 1003 in the set, though I am quite certain there are more on my Flickr that did not make it into the set.

Oh, and here is white.

heh, was going to edit last message but can add it here. heh.

Thanks :) Though revisions probable. But pretending that isn't probably going to happen. Weight lighter. Off mostly.

Add to last message mine:
From: Mistres
Reading a sign, it says, skin by "Celestial Studios". Looks OK, so over I hop. Things slowly rez, and ... distracted by cowboy hat. Hair and cowboy hat. WANT. Buy the light blonde hair version (50L), because Love never wears blonde (tried it once, Lexxi about died, never worked up the courage to try again after that).

The skin I have been wearing recently has been by Celestial Studios. I did not know they were having a sale though.

Oh, and wanted to include another picture. Forgot.

Watering hole. Home.

I guess.

I was just shooting back without thinking. I probably feel more like you do, now that I think a little about it.

Last night my daughter (who is real) was incredibly bored. So I told her, "I'll play any game you choose," thinking she'd pick a board game or card game.

Being a smartass, she pointed to a little city she'd built and populated with tiny dolls, and said, "Will you play THAT with me?"

I looked down and thought about for a second, knowing what it meant: picking a little figure, saying, "I'm being her," and then acting out some scene while Emma is "being" some other little figure. Honestly, I didn't think I could go back that far in my sense of play.

I wouldn't want to play with those weird little dolls, either, but I suppose those women are hard up enough to want to. It probably would be better if they could volunteer in an orphanage or hospital, so they could get the bad part of motherhood too.

Glad to hear it. It's tough, especially in this economy, to have a job one hates. Such mixed emotions. Good that you can move on. Hopefully the next one is better.

I'm going to die before 4:30 gets here.

When you are a night person forced to work business hours, it is a bad idea to let your natural sleep patterns take over during vacations.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Oh, I still have the same job. Now I go from months of toil on one project (with repeated "hurry do this other task";), to months where either I pretend to work, or have 100 projects going at once. Like before. I suppose the difference was the very long length of the task.

Shouldn't you be becoming more awake, more alive, more vigorous now that it is approaching night, though?

I've been awake for almost 24 hours, so no.

Hey folks- re Xerxes- I see Bec on the builder group all the time and i am pretty sure i saw her at one of CX's parties not long ago and I believe she did mention Xerxes in a positive manner - meaning i get the idea all is well and he just isn't in the forums. However I have not seen him in ages here or in world and i do not have anything concrete to state - just a vague feeling that all is well in the kingdom. Next i see her i will ask though.

No.. I am safe then.

Though the engine noises do gear down and stop as I put it back in the pen holder thingie.

Oh crap... now I may be messed up again. :D

Yay, thanks for following it. I must admit it is kinda slow lately. I have been working on tutorials for another blog. Today I did a post about SL users and the non-exodus to third party grids that is going on. lol I got a post back on that within moments of it going live. :D

It really means a lot to me though to know people are reading it. I don't care about hits, etc.. but when friends are talking to me about it I get all happy. So thanks!
