So I just got back from the vets.
Had to take George the other day cause he dropped half his body weight in just a few days. She said he had a very bad case of worms, so gave him a wormer and told us to come back next week. Last night, he took a turn for the worse, and refused to eat or drink anything at all. We decided it didn't seem like worms anymore, so took him to the vets. They took him in to put him on a drip and do blood tests.
Got a phone call not long ago and turns out he has feline leukemia so they had to put him to sleep. :(

I am sorry to hear about George. Not easy to lose a cat, especially suddenly and unexpectedly.

My I ask, how long was George with you? What did he look like?
There is nothing much to say to help you feel better, but I do know what it's like.

There are no humans nor animals in heaven, that includes cats. There are only souls, cat souls, people souls, they are all the same I think.

I've had him since he was 6 weeks old. total of nearly 2 years i think. He made me laugh at some really tough times. Gorgeous black and white, he had a black chin that made him look like he had a goatee lol.

I know its for the best though, I'll miss him but I'd rather say goodbye than have him suffering I guess. I'll see him again, Im sure, maybe not this life, but the next :)

Oh, Claire, I'm so sorry! I hope you were able to be with him, at least.

I remember losing Sheba to feline leukemia as though it were yesterday (and it was nearly 30 years ago). And it hit her fast, too.

I'm so sorry about George, Claire. I had something similar happen with my Mikki kitty a few years ago...what we thought was just a simple respiratory infection turned out to be a cancerous tumor larger than his heart sitting on his lungs. It was absolutely inoperable due to its location and, since he was nearly 18, it was unlikely that he'd survive the experimental chemo or radiation therapy I *might* have been able to get him at the vet school a few hours away. I had the option to take him home and let him slip away there, but by that point he was struggling to breathe and the tumor was pressing on his esophagus in such a way that stomach acid was leaking into his throat and causing it to bleed...I couldn't let him suffer like that, but oh, it was such a difficult decision. He'd been my kitty literally since his eyes opened, from the time I was 15 until just a few months before I turned 33. I have his name tattooed in Thai (he was half Siamese) on my ankle so, in a way, he'll always be with me.

Yes. I thought maybe he was just leaving later, but he's still strolling around the building.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Guys- I just posted an advert over at SLProfiles and used a handy little thing to add the slurl of the store to the ad. When I posted it, it showed only the name "Talon Faire" but is an active slurl. How does that work? Would love to do it all the time- Here is where the ad is so you can see what I mean: http://www.slprofiles.com/secondlifegroups.asp?a=list&id=698

Its under the picture.
Thanks :)

My kitty that went suddenly was one that I also had been with since he opened his eyes for the first time (well, since before then, since they are not born with their eyes open :)). Genetic issue, kidney failure. I was away at college when it suddenly sprang up when he was 6. My parents said that it would be a good idea if I took the bus home that weekend (I do not recall now, but I think they hinted something about the kitty, but didn't flat out state what the issue was). Arrived to find my kitty doped out and with a little kitty iv in him. So I was able to see him before he wandered off into the sunset.
