From: Trout Recreant That was my first one, too! Then the Atari, then, in there somewhere, Dad showed up with a PC. It had a green screen, which made it infinitely cooler than the amber screen models and I had to learn DOS. I played Leather Goddesses of Phobos and the early Sierra Online games - King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, etc. I'm such a geek. I loved the Sierra Online games -- especially Leisure Suit Larry - but my first pc game was the text based Wishbringer game.

Myst & Hornet..

My first electronic game was Myst (Mac) and then F-18 Hornet, which I was completely addicted to. Although we have a Wii - I must it doesn't really "grab" me. ( what's pong? )

Myst for me... I love those games. I remember how cool the first Myst seemed, then when Riven came out I was just in awe of the graphics... Morning, or should I say afternoon, folks. Missed breakfast and lunch, I see.

I was going to come over here and say I hoped you were taking my silly stuff on the whine thread as just that- silly... but now my 83 year old heart is broken that the little whipper snapper doesn't remember pong!

I pretended it was a radar screen sometimes and I was plotting the nuclear destruction of some foreign regime....

I progressed through Pong, Atari 2600, Vic-20, Commodore 64, Commodore 128D, (I always wanted an Amiga but never got one), SNES, Playstation, and now PCs. I miss the old Commodore 64 games the most such as Karateka, Grog's Revenge, Beach Head, etc. Atari 2600 games are just as fondly remembered as well. I used to sit for hours on end playing Cosmic Ark, Missile Command, and Space Invaders. I miss the good ol' days.

The funny thing about that old green screen machine is that it addicted me to computer gaming. I've never enjoyed the console games anywhere near as much as I do PC gaming. I don't even have a console (my son does, at his mom's house, so I play that with him). I'll wait for a PC port of any game that looks incredibly good, like the new GTA, which is a game that is totally out of character for me, but which I'll buy when they port it to the PC just to see what the hype is about.
Plus, I get to kill innocent people and steal cars - just like in RL.

LOL! I have had consels but never got that into them. I had to have the Xbox 360 when it came out. I worked early shift and where I worked we got them in. I stood online from 4am to get the thing (my boss gave me permission to clock in later in the day and work later). I got it home.. ooo'd and aaa'd over the graphics. Played the thing about a month and went back to the PC. Sold it later on Ebay lol. Yep, PC gaming for me too.

Well technically, the first game I ever PLAYED was called "Montezuma's Revenge", and it was on the C64. There were a couple of other games I played on that machine. But the Legend of Zelda for the NES was the first game that was MINE. I got it for Christmas.

From: Garrett Laramide ...I always wanted an Amiga but never got one ... I used to sit for hours on end playing Cosmic Ark, Missile Command, and Space Invaders. I miss the good ol' days. I wanted an Amiga too, but the company folded just as I was about to send them a check. Missile Command...oh yeah. And Asteroids! But I don't miss those days. The days I DO miss are the days of Windows 3.0 and Wing Commander. That game had a storyline! And it was the last game I was able to play with even a shred of proficiency. Everything after that was too complex and too fast moving for me (or just possibly age shorted out my reaction times.) These days I watch over their shoulders as my kids play Rock Band or HALO or Battlefield something-or-other, until I feel a little dizzy. Then I toddle off to my darkened corner and log into SL.

From: LittleMe Jewell I am soooo sorry. I actually kind of liked it. I lived there for 8 years. Of course if I never have to scrape ice off my wind shield ever again that will be ok with me. Now I live back in my childhood house and I'm not planning to move again. From: Macphisto Angelus Feeling a little nostalgia today about the very first game system that my Dad brought home when I was a little Mac. I salute thee Pong! Without you there may have never been a Second Life in my future. I was the owner\operator of a small tavern when pong came out and I had one in my place. I'll probably be that good at another game as long as I live.

LOL! Yeah, I had the mad pong skillz too.
Probably why my Dad was willing to get the 2600 for more options of games to play. heh

From: Maureen Boccaccio "Let's dance...put on your red shoes and dance the blues..." omg Amaranthim! Every time I wear red shoes, I think of that song. I think it's because I purchased my first red stilettos about the same time as that song came out. Have a good day! Red shoes always remind me of Elvis Costello. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJKt-DhII_4
