From: Gora Runner The auto-run is related to time and SL time follows Pacific standard time. For Example: One User usually has free time after 9 pm. And the autorun duration of any hypothetical sandbox is 5 hours, s/he might find it 2.5 hours because of the time if public sandbox follows Pacific standard time. Most of the SL users are from US so autorun for public sandbox might set as per Pacific standard time and suitability to facilitate the most users.
Most sandboxes use ordinary auto-return, so your objects last the entire time period, whenever you rez them. That isn't related to Pacific time (SLT is Pacific Time, that is, PDt in summer and PST in winter). The ones which use 5 hour intervals are hardly causing any distress - do you ever build inworld? It's crucial to take copies periodically as you build; the sandboxes warn of imminent deletion - picking up your objects and waiting a few minutes is all you need to do. No one is being badly done to by the system. From: Gora Runner Since Sandbox are for new users, the rate of new users differ from time to time in different geographic areas. Suppose if the rate of new users are higher in last few months from Africa, the autorun time of public sandbox should be adjusted accordingly to facilitate their need.
I am not sure, arguing hypothetically.
First, sandboxes are for everyone, not just new users. Also, no matter where someone logs on from it can be at any hour of the day. I log on frequently at 2 a.m. Again, the few minutes when sandboxes reset is not at all a big deal.

From: Seven Okelli I'm not trying to poke fun at you, Gora. It's just that the things you say are almost incomprehensible, because you are coming from a place that is very far from the practical experience of SL. And one in which English is not the native tongue. Pep (Why do you all allow yourself to get confused by Abba English?)

Pep (Why do you all allow yourself to get confused by Abba English?) I've had people laugh and scoff when I've tried to speak their language, so I try to make allowances when other people speak mine.

From: Gora Runner ...one way to address 'SL sandboxes' is to find the extent of issues/ discourses involved with the use of the concept both SL in-world and Forum.
This extent is not very extensive at all. Frankly, if you were able to survey a representative sample of SL Residents* and ask them to rank 10,000 SL-related terms in order of their importance or interest, "sandbox" would be way down in the bottom 0.5%. I have a feeling you were struck by the metaphor of 'virtual world as sandbox' and let it over-persuade you that actual inworld sandboxes are more important to the SL experience than they actually are. *and the fact that this is NOT possible is a severe damper on reputable research about SL

From: Gora Runner Since Sandbox are for new users Wrong, yet again. How do you think you can write a good thesis about a subject you know nothing about, except for the few theoretical tidbits that you picked up because they resonate with what you're trying to wring out of them?
