In some countries people get awful pay for work, but how are they going to pay their electrical bills then? because if you are so poor and so fucked by your government you would go camp in second life because it actually pays more, you probably wouldn't have money for a computer or money to keep it running. two bad assumptions. 1) the computer isn't on for another reason, and 2) it's that persons computer. just saying, _____________________

two bad assumptions. 1) the computer isn't on for another reason, and 2) it's that persons computer. just saying, back to you, for your bad assumption on my bad assumption. If you are this poor you have to camp in SL to get money, because there apparantly is no other way, then the computer wouldn't probably be there in the first place because you have no money. You would sell it to eat. And you have no electricity, because you have no money. Camping doesn't get you a dry piece of bread if you camp daily. Besides, running SL in the background while working on other things doesn't mean it doesn't cost you more. CPU will use more power, and bandwidth isn't unlimited. using bandwidth also consumes more power from all sorts of devices. assuming there wouldn't be a capped internet anywhere on the world. which is another bad assumption, but easier because else you will try to fight it too. Camping doesn't add up. just buy the money. If you don't have money, you shouldn't be playing games in the first place. _____________________

kasuga, you wrongly assume that poverty is the only argument for camping.
you may see it differently if your cc was rejected because you live in a 'fraud risk' country or your bank was incapable of setting up internet banking is a useful way. and if one is going to count cpu cycles or measure kilowatts used in an attempt to attach a $ value to that in an effort to prove camping is not 'worth it', then surely the same can be said of bank fees, paypal fees, currency conversion fees, cc fees/interest, etc. _____________________

I think people are camping because that's the game they're playing. They're treating camping like similarly pointless time-consuming activities in Everquest and Warcraft, where you have to sit there with the computer on doing nothing to mine fish or grow beer trees or whatever it is... and on those games they're paying 20 bucks a month for the privilege.
I agree, it's stupid, and it's just as stupid in Warcrack. _____________________

Griefing weapons are not illegal in RL, why would they be in one game? Well, I don't know where you live, but caging a person without any announcement whatsoever in RL is not quite legal in the Netherlands. We have a lot that is legal, but that isn't, yet. _____________________

I just went to x-street, and one of the "Featured Items" on the xstreet home page was a griefer weapon that distorts another avatar's shape beyond all recognition. The ten items in the set are all designed to trick the unexpecting victim into accepting a dialog, like a hug, that in fact will disrupt them. The same seller sells other gadgets like orbiters that have no rational use except as a griefer weapon. WHY does Linden Lab allow griefer weapons to be sold on xstreet? Why can someone sell things there that are certain to get the user abuse reported and even banned if they ever use them? This makes no sense to me at all. I know what tools you are talking about and I know the store too - but those tools have been in Sl since 2006 and I do not get pissed if someone tries to use it on me. If you get disorted (which is just an animation) then use the animation stop tool and in 1 sec you look normal again. All the tools made by this creator are very harmless and fun as long as you know how things work in SL! The problem are those things you cannot get rid of like + Copybots + Traffic bots + store bots + fuck bots + all the fucking bots + mem hackers Now I am asking you - why do Lindens allow this? |
