Sounds like mine. Did they ever open another report on it? I've been chalking it up to a memory issue with my computer (although I knew better in my heart), and haven't been able to pin it on any one thing long enough to make a jira report on it (and still can't).

You know, I'm not sure. I do know that for me, personally, SL didn't freeze as much when I shut down a bunch of background jobs. Do a Ctrl-Alt-Del, click the Processes tab, then click User Name to specify "who" is running the job. Do NOT touch anything run by "Local Service," "SYSTEM" or "Network Service." Most stuff under "Owner" is fair game, except for taskmgr.exe and explorer.exe. I shut down all my extras like iTunesHelper.exe, winampa.exe, GoogleToolbarNot..., etc. Once I started shutting that stuff down, SL seemed to run more smoothly. That's just one girl's opinion though, and Your Mileage May Vary. :)

Worth a try, thanks.

You can shut down explorer as well if you don't ue any other prgrams while running SL. I do it all the time.

I usually have Gmail running in the background, as all of my personal email gets forwarded. (What a mess that has caused too, as my mom called me and said "Who is HoneyBear Lillihook and why did she answer the email I sent to you?" Oops :X

At first, when it started happening, I was using Skype at the same time, so I thought...AHA!!!! But unfortunately, I stopped doing that and shut down ANYTHING else running in the background to no avail. I am at work now, so can't get into SL to test it out since I re-installed it last night. I will try it tonight and see what happens.

has anyone else just said, forget it? I am DONE????

-Blu- (OH SO DONE)

Yes, when I first joined, I couldn't get the hang of it. Nobody really helped me either, aside from one person who chatted a bit and suddenly gave me $350L (a notion I have tried to pass on often now that I'm playing, though I haven't given that much at a pop yet - and I hope this doesn't lead to people swamping me with $L requests...they won't get 'em if they ask. Lol).

So all I knew how to do was use a landmark someone gave me, or use the map to randomly click on places. Those places were usually empty, and I'd get stuck flying around (lag) or end up in the ocean, and it was a real drag. What is the point in THIS, I kept asking myself. Finally I quit. Every time the membership came up for renewal I chose to cancel it. I even had to phone and cancel and was asked why I was quitting. "Give it another try" they'd say, so I would and would end up even more frustrated, since nothing had changed.

Then I read about all the creation going on in SL now, how much it's grown as a SLuniverse, and especially all the fashion designers at work there. That intrigued me enough to give it another real try and this time I was more assertive. I asked people things and just kept trying until I found someone who'd actually answer. (Heh, to unfriendly SLers.)

Long story short - ya have to find a reason to be in there, a niche, and keep with it. If not it will seem pointless. Unless you basically want an avatar chat program but that's a niche for some also. As for tech problems, I can only guess that the latest update was too powerful for your current computer's RAM.
