Ok...suddenly, SL does not work for me. It does a constant freezing up, every 3-4 seconds and in fact, freezes up everything, including my mouse. It makes participating in Sl impossible. Don't ask me about my computer or monitor or anything...I have NO clue as I am not a computer wizard by any means. I just know...one day it works, the next, and from then on out...it doesn't...at all. EVER. I am ready to call it completely quits. In fact, I just uninstalled it altogether! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH...ok...so...the mandatory question...has anyone else just said, forget it? I am DONE????

Yeah, they have. Usually they come back after a few days of bemoaning the fact that nobody bemoans their leaving. *shrugs*

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, I am not gonna bother to check here again, as you are frustrated and I am sure you will flame something back at me. You should let someone try and help you with you some tech-talk to see what your system is and maybe any changes you can make. LL says a lot of random crashes that are not hardware related come from other things installed on your machine. Let's talk about it and maybe we can figure something out. Blu, I totally get your frustration if your computer is as old as mine
the only real recommendation most will get is say you need to add more memory or get newer one but for some of us this is just not option. I had similar problem for few days. This is what I did after two days of nonstop can't get in for more then few seconds. At login screen before even logging in I went to preference in graphics I turned every down on lowest I could. I turned off media settings off all the audio and media settings. In general tab I cleared my cache. Close login screen. Re-open, hopefully it will say something like clearing cache if not restart your entire computer and then try again hopefully it will say now its clearing cache. Login and hope it worked. It worked for me but it was because of something with media settings and my low ram computer. Later I was able to turn back on the audio to listen to music but it tends to cut off a whole lot on my computer. I am no computer expert or even close but I have learned few things over time. If you want to know what your computer specs are you can click the about second life tab and it should tell you what is on your computer too. _____________________

When I get that frustrated, I log out for a while, go kill some pixels in other games and otherwise, do something other than bash my head into the wall.

It might be just easier because with some computers they have built in software
with weird names that will not let you uninstall them. Removing your current OS in windows and reinstalling for someone who doesn't know very much about computers is totally dangerous things to do. I suggest if you can figure out create guest section in login on your computer with minimal things running too and only use Second Life. I heard it works better that way but I haven't really noticed difference when you got low memory computer but some of my friends who computer engineers swear by it. It takes time to figure out things and how to problem solve and I totally get why some of us don't want to do it who aren't computer savvy but eventually your sort of forced too if you do anything with computers. One thing I figured out after using computers for bit is with certain things be it Second Life or other things is their is patterns when things don't work. Sometimes the patterns don't make sense and can be bit intimidating sometimes its experimenting with what resolves the problem. _____________________

LOL...No, I know what you said...just no idea where to start...my kids have gone fishing...lol...I will have to wait til later to ask them to decipher. Oh wow Blu, you remind me of myself in 2003. Everyone held my hand and walked me through everything. I guess people still do for somethings I am not computer savvy or SL tech savvy, but I get by and eventually you will too if you do not give up.  I am sure someone around here knows enough about Windows and is helpful enough to walk you through some sort of help. _____________________
