From: Rhaorth Antonelli you are such a shit disturber, why must you feel the need to make all your snide little digs? just let it go, you don't like me EVERYONE knows that, so why must you make it so obvious? and here you go again, calling me a psycho and you have to spell it out in such a strange way, it does make one wonder... I have no idea why you have developed such an overwhelming hatred for me, but.. as you stated, out of respect for the OP AND everyone else, if you feel the desire to continue on this line... then do it in IM enough said i also have never hate PM'd or any other hate to Rha or anyone. i have been nothing short of honest and straightforward. you Rha, however, have been completely unappreciative and unnecessarily defensive and ... well... bizarre. sympathy is not a strong enough word to express how much pity i have for you. please be well.

From: Czari Zenovka Hi Deira! Was just curious why you had to upgrade to the new viewer. I'm still running Nicholaz. Nicholaz is updating all of his viewers. Bleeding edge and eye candy already done. Waiting for old school. Incorporates the security fix, and a couple of other things as well.

We all have much in common - our love of Second Life and interest in technology for just two important things. Please be civil with each other, and openminded. Think twice before posting antagonistic words. Forgive and forget. We all want forgiveness for mistakes we've made; the price of that is forgiving others when they hurt you. You don't want me to come after you with my tickle feather, do you?

Very nicely said Osprey!
I like pretty much everyone on these boards, but the snittiness in recent threads makes it very uncomfortable for the rest of us. Just reminds me of the golden rule according to Mother: If you can't say anything nice - don't say anything at all.

But I thought it was if you have nothing nice to say, put it in print. NO? I've been wrong all this time? NO one tells me anything. It's so...depressing.

That is GREAT news!! I must have misunderstood - I thought Deira was using a non-Nicholaz viewer now.

From: Czari Zenovka OH! That is GREAT news!! I must have misunderstood - I thought Deira was using a non-Nicholaz viewer now. No misunderstanding there. Old school is yet to be updated (pending). I run old school on an old school kind of computer, as well as eye candy and bleeding edge on a better rig. I can log on with the unpatched old school, and stay active for awhile, but also noticed the computer freeze that she describes (at random times for me). All this after the last server side update. Total computer freeze that can only be resolved via restart. Hoping that the old school update will fix this problem. Fortunately my main computer runs all versions of the client tolerably well. I prefer Nicholaz for the UI.

my apologies to everyone for my reactions to certain comments in this thread and others
however I do not sit idly by while someone else decides to call me psycho THEN claim they never had anything bad to say about me.
if I want someone to diagnose me as a psycho I will pay a REAL doctor, not get someone on a forum to do said diagnoses.
again my apologies and I am letting this drop, if people wish to bad mouth me, then so be it, I am tired of trying to stick up for myself to a select few (and they know who they are)
I wish you the best blu with the pc and client issue, hopefully you figure it out.

From: Czari Zenovka Hi Deira! Was just curious why you had to upgrade to the new viewer. I'm still running Nicholaz. Yes, I'm not sure why that happened - I was running a 1.19 based version and when I went to logon I got one of those mandatory upgrade messages and thought I had to upgrade. Could have been my mistake - so when I get a bit of time I'm going to uninstall and start again with Nic's old school when it's ready. However, I do still throttle everything down as much as possible - I guess it sounds a bit sad - just render as few pixels as possible and you will be ok with SL! (Fortunately I do have a better spec PC too - but I like to have SL available on the laptop for when I work away from home.) God bless Nicholaz! EDIT: Sorry Blu - I forgot to say that I think possibly the Nicholaz old school version may be a good one to try in your case. Just about everyone gets frustrated with SL from time to time - I certainly have - and the more extroverted personalities will need to express their feelings! Sometimes you just need to take a bit of time out. /me gets in the queue for Osprey's tickle stick.

Lots of talk about specs and old PC's but that might not be a factor.
I have a very new, very high spec, quad core, SLI Dell and the new client is crashing me as well. I get a BAD_MEM error then the client re-sets to default, I then get a blue screen of death.
On boot I have to reset all the client settings, and get the really stupid blue boxes telling me I have clicked the mouse, are your sure you want to do this?, are you really sure?
I think it's a bug in the latest client. Not that Lindens will admit to it !!

From: Blu Cazalet Ok...suddenly, SL does not work for me. It does a constant freezing up, every 3-4 seconds and in fact, freezes up everything, including my mouse. It makes participating in Sl impossible. Don't ask me about my computer or monitor or anything...I have NO clue as I am not a computer wizard by any means. I just know...one day it works, the next, and from then on out...it doesn't...at all. EVER. I am ready to call it completely quits. In fact, I just uninstalled it altogether! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH...ok...so...the mandatory question...has anyone else just said, forget it? I am DONE????
-Blu- (OH SO DONE) This morning my car wouldn't start, it just made cranking noises and the radio wouldn't work, it makes driving impossible. Don't ask me about my cam timing or gear ratio's, I have no clue how to rebuild a Ferrari quadcam EFI internal combustion engine. One day it works, now it doesn't again EVER! I am ready to skip owning a car and walk everywhere from now on, I just pushed it out of the garage, and uninstalled the big round thingy under the bonnet with a matock. Can anyone else give me a lift to work? Seriously, if SL worked last week after the upgrade and now suddenly doesn't then I would hardly say it's the softwares fault, not in it's design anyway, though it may have got corrupted, I just had to reinstall the RC because it refused to work, other versions of SL were still working fine, and after reinstall RC is now fine too. Maybe something like hard drive or graphics card was geting marginal and it's now died completely. Or just crapped it self suddenly like my new graphic card did on the weekend 10 minutes after installation :{ Can I have some of your stuff?

Good grief you guys. I vented cuz I was really, really frustrated....I didn't know if I would get flamed or not...and then the thread took a bad turn. I am really sorry to have vented to you guys...I just figured some if not most of you have had these same kind of frustrations, therefore would be good "shoulders" to "cry" on. Live and learn. Some of you have been really cool about that, and some of you, seem to just want to inflame and be nasty. It's done. Ok? We all know some of you just love the drama. Some of us wanted support. Can it be done now, or perhaps I should just delete the whole damned thread.

Blu, you are not alone. I have an excellent system that is regularly checked by a professional technician (believe me, my system HAS to be secure and running smoothly) and still SL is often scatty and laggy. I think it is the nature of the beast. My SL partner has three computers at his UK home with one of the most updated servers possible and he experiences the same thing. Don't necessarily trust the ones who say follow their specs and all willl be well. See someone face-to-face before you start fiddling with the computer on your own. Just stay the course, dont get too frustrated (a little doesnt matter), try when the USA or huge centralized populations are not on - above 50 thousand and SL clenches for me. Don't let people's comments eat at you and don't apologize - you don't have to. Plenty of us have similar problems. Jig.

I am not having lag issues. I KNOW what those are...lol. No...my whole computer locks up for a few seconds, mouse and all, and it happens every few seconds. So, it's like I can move the mouse and then it all freezes, repeatedly and gets worse and worse. I localized it to SL because it doesn't happen with any other application or anything else I am doing. Eventually, I move the mouse enough to click on the x to exit SL (takes about 30 seconds due to all the freeze stop action). Once I am out of SL, all is right in my computer again. -Blu- (PLEASE NOTE: The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off due to financial budget cuts)

I spend most of my SL time with my teeth gnashed together these days...but I wouldn't dream of going somewhere else

Blu - It almost sounds like an issue that was "resolved" a little while ago. Here's the description of it: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2051Read through it (yeah it's big, but it went on for months and months) and let us know if that even remotely resembles what you're seeing.

Sounds like mine. Did they ever open another report on it? I've been chalking it up to a memory issue with my computer (although I knew better in my heart), and haven't been able to pin it on any one thing long enough to make a jira report on it (and still can't).
