Rude behavior isn't sexual harrassment.

A boss saying, "Service me or you are fired." is sexual harrassment.

I often get a variety of rude behaviour, innuendo's, condescension etc. There are a lot of men who seem to think that because you are female that you are in some way deficient and/or need looking after. SL seems either to magnify that or I come in to way more contact with men like that than in RL.

Actual sexual harassment though I do not get any of really, though I expect in SL it depends on your definitions. I have had people I have met one time come "pay me visits" in an unwelcome fashion but I have tools to deal with that, though I suppose that could be classed as stalking but as sex in SL is not real, how can there really be sexual harassment?

For instance, you cannot grope anyone in SL unless they agree to it except if someone uses a lame anim to make it look like a grope is going on. It is not really possible to stop people leaving and that by itself stop any real harassment of any kind.

You can emote doing unwelcome things to a person in their vicinity but you can easily leave, mute them, eject and ban them if you own the land. Racking my brains to figure out what that might leave in terms of harassment...not much if anything.
Surely harassment is the repetition of unwelcome behaviour towards you and not just a one of event. If you can prevent the repetition (and yes we have the tools for that) then I personally would not call it harassment any longer though I expect the protagonist would like to be harassing still I suppose - maybe it comes down to intent rather than the effectiveness, but I am not really sure how once you deal with the unwelcome event you can easily discern their ongoing intentions.

I suspect it depends on how sensitive you are to things in a virtual world as to whether you *feel* harassed but the big question really is: Does that mean you are being harassed?

I have not been abused and if I were, I probably enjoyed it in SL and then teleported out when I was done and/or bored.

And I haven't abused anyone except for playing with their feelings, jousting unnecessarily on the forums, being nice and mean and nice and mean again constantly, pulling people closer only to push them way back.... you know the usual run around game, but I think my subjects always enjoyed it cause they kept coming back for more.

My wife and I have been in SL for only a few weeks. I've been more preocupied with building and finding cool thngs than mingling, but she has spent a lot of time/money on a really, really hot avatar.

I mean she is something very special and gets attention.

Last night we were in world and she was dancing at a formal dancing sim and accepted a dance from someone. I was off in another sim.
She was enjoying herself in a slowdance when he suddenly removed his pants, jabbing her with something.
She talked to the DJ she was friends with and promptly tossed and banned.

While some might call that fun, it really threw her into shock RL and was really upset. We talked about it and after a while she was OK. It's amazing how we become personally involved in SL.

Anyway we denied the jerks attempt to ruin another's time in SL. Yes, once again she's happily shopping, dancing, and shopping again.
