One or the other of the following, but not both:
Free accounts will mean more furries. Voice will be the end of roleplay in Second Life. _____________________

Thumbs up to Avacea!!! What you talking about thumbs up? She's from Boston of all places, up there they're not taken seriously. New Yorkers already know this. |

Thank you all for teaching me so much about myself and for keeping me humble (even though it doesn't look like I am most of the time) You need to get out more, Recreant. A different crowd, get some color and different demeanor. You're much too "humble." |

I didn't. What is the doomsaying for this week? "The sky is unfalling!" (build height is increasing) "It's the end of the grid as we know it..." (sing along!) _____________________
I dont know what the actual answer is.. I just know LLs response was at best...flaccid. That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry... ...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning. |

Truthfully, I've learned that as much as SL can impact some people's lives, to most people, it is still a game. You can't rely on people here the way you can in RL, even when offering them RL money comparable to what they would get doing the same job in RL. They still just see the digital playground, and don't see the reality of a second life.

Mine goes hand in hand with what Trout put so well.
1. No amount of physical beauty will make you happier. Though it's fun and enlightening to be someone or something else for a time, you are still just as happy to be yourself. 2. There are a LOT of brilliant creative people out there. This makes me feel good -- gives me hope for humanity. I can't thank y'all enough for these two valuable lessons. |

Never trust a girl if "she" comes up with bizarre excuses to avoid speach.

You can't rely on people here the way you can in RL, even when offering them RL money comparable to what they would get doing the same job in RL. They still just see the digital playground, and don't see the reality of a second life. Very true. I would say that SL is much more real than I ever would have thought when I first logged in, but nevertheless much less real than my mind sometimes leads me to believe. At the end of the day, SL really *is* just a digital playground when compared to real life for the vast majority of people (while for people for whom real life is very challenging for various reasons, such as disabilities, injuries, health issues, etc., it can be something very different and in many ways more fruitful than their RL). I think many of us come to realize this over the course of spending time in SL. That doesn't make SL useless or fruitless or silly -- but it does place it in its proper context, in my opinion. |

Never trust a girl if "she" comes up with bizarre excuses to avoid speach. That's got to be my "favorite" hot button right now. What about a simple "I don't want to?" Oh, I'll bet that's bizarre. In other words, any female named avatar is automatically guilty if for whatever reason they don't want to use voice. Got it. _____________________

I've learned that online "reality" is entirely fluid. Or seems so
As I am at the very root of my ICU-nurse-mom nature "reality oriented", I've learned to think in multilayered fashion about the people I meet. I've learned that the possibilities for deception are nearly endless. But I've also learned that certain basics do hold true: constancy of affection, cheerful good company, emotional fidelity, and thoughtful connections developed over time... these can create true and powerful bonds. Worth knowing... |
