Sadly, a variant of that bug may be back: there are sporadic reports here that rezzing too much too fast sometimes results in older stuff on the parcel being returned, rather than failure to rez the new stuff. Admittedly, even if that could be reliably triggered, it would be a far cry from the urban-legendary powers of this current HGT (Horrible Griefer Thingie). Yes, I've had that happen with a script I was creating, had a few objects returned to me (actually my Mistress which made her *quite* perturbed) by accident. Theoretically you could write a script that would set an object's property to temp and/or physical, but you'd need to actually put a script into the object to do that - you can't just take an object's key by scanning it and "infect it". While you can get parcel flags by script and even mess around with the media URL, you can't sell or abandon it that way. The only parcel flag you could set by script (which I find surprising) is you can clear the ban list; that would be annoying. |

i've heard so many different versions of what this thing does today..from stealing land rights to money to inventory to accounts..
just goes to show that even if it was real the channel spam fails to deliver anything more than pumped up version of a fairy tale.. i thought it was pretty pathetic seeing some competitors jumping in their competitions channels and saying the creator of the channel is ripping people off with this thing so come to my store where you can shop safe.. that was seriously pathetic..if they were my groups i would have them AR'd on the spot.. so many people are so ready to spread a rumor that they can't even get it right before it flies out their mouth.. _____________________

Some objects say "unknown user" I get notecards and other things from "unknown user" all the time. I believe that this thing is out there. I've had things try and take my Lindens before; if I hadn't looked up just in time while clicking through announcements I would have clicked ok on the permission to take however many Lindens. It may or may not do all it is accused of but it does sound a nasty piece of work and I am glad there are warnings going out. I've gotten the same warning about Life Shop in more than one group announcement already. (Is it pedantic to mention that just because it hasn't happened in the past does not mean it is not possible?) _____________________

someone gave me this object im almost positive.... its setting in my inventory yet I never got around to looking at it.
now, Im not opening it well, just because in case... i have enough problems as it is without some dumb carp like this. Some german girl gave it to me and she thought it was so funny when she did... it struck me as odd..... she kept bugging me to open it but i was to busy building a new store I forgot.. |

I had thought the dialogs of objects offering inventory were always formatted: "An object named N owned by FN LN has offered you X." Can this be modified by a script?

I had thought the dialogs of objects offering inventory were always formatted: "An object named N owned by FN LN has offered you X." Can this be modified by a script? It's just SL being lame, it sometimes happens with pay dialogs too. It would be nice if the dialog was delayed, or the key printed as a substitute, when the name was unavailable. |

As a general rule I don't rez or attach objects given to me by someone I don't know. Bah! Live a little! I make it a point to rez and attach everything a stranger gives me, especially if suspiciously named. It adds excitement to my life! _____________________
