Once you rez it if you have land rights you are in trouble, it can destroy your home, steal items, and if worn turn you into a walking advert and dummy gift giver. The worst attacks required a sim rollback to fix, so please be careful....It's called "Life Shop AO"

Okay, all my groups are being spammed with this and it's always "this happened to a friend". Well, without some kind of documented proof this is happening, i'm chalking this up to urban legend. When i search this topic, this was the only post that was located.
Edited to add: okay, there's a screen shot of the Life Style AO on the XStreet Forums. It does appear to be real but not nearly as damaging as the alarmists want you to believe. How exactly can it destroy your home? is this another hoax?
**EDIT** The only time I ever experienced a home being "destroyed" was a long time ago when a griefer dropped a self-replicating prim bomb into a sim and made the sim return random builds and objects. That is no longer possible. This is silly and I am glad I am currently not inworld getting spammed with group IMs about this. |

Yeah, I got this in a group notice too, exact same wording. Of the listed actions that this item supposedly does, the only one that appears to be possible is for it to give out copies of itself in such a way that it would appear as though you were the one giving them out. There is no llDestroyHouse() function in LSL, nor is there any way for an object to "steal items." llRemoveInventory() only works on items that are, surprisingly, within that item's inventory.
But hey, whichever moron started this urban legend appears to have succeeded in scaring a bunch of other....residents....into perpetuating this myth. Seems like some variant happens every few months. It does mention land rights....in theory I suppose that an item could eject, ban, or teleport home other users if worn by the land owner, but this would not work on group-owned land, for example. |

Not at all uncommon for people to hide these spam/virus scripts in freebie adult parts. Scripts (in attachments or otherwise) don't need YOUR permission to hand out notecards or LMs or objects to others - or to animate them or anything like that. You don't even get told if a script you're wearing is doing this. You get the blue permission pop-up when a script wants to do something to you - you don't get it when your script wants to do something to somebody else. (except debit permissions) _____________________
