It's a rare item in this world of mass copy. I don't really want to debate whether people want it or not, whether I have permission to sell, or anything else. I'm just interested in what you think it's worth.

The value of that tier is $25 per month I think. So you would only pay the equivalent of 4 months for something that is usable forever?

I wish my first alt 2003 could figured SL out during beta and that post beta period and had the funds to get charter membership. There is lot of charter members I bet that don't even use their accounts any more.

OK..I've thought about it, and I guess I could echo Lil's numbers. I don't have any alts, but I guess I could use that one as just a something or other..keep it chained up somewhere and fed scraps. So I'd say $100 to 250 USD is a fair price for me.

This is true. Many of the Charters do not participate in SL anymore and to top it off they have land everywhere filled with old clunky builds that will never be updated.

I went back and did some calcs. I rent partof my tier now because I trust who I rent from and it is cheaper than paying LL the increase to the next level. For a while, I was renting all of my tier except the two free 512s I get from my two premium accts -- I had 4 premiums, but downgraded the other two when I started renting tier.

I rent tier at .25 L$ sqm/wk, then 512 sqm (at 270 L$ to usd rate):
512 * .25 = 128 L$/wk (.47/ wk usd)
* 52 weeks = 6656 L$/yr (24.65/yr usd)
/ 12 months = 555 L$/mth (2.05/mth usd) PER 512 RENTED
..........So that is 8.20/mth usd for 4096, 98.40/yr.

In addition to the 4096 of tier, I would not be paying my $1.19/mth usd for one of my alts (14.28/yr - that assumes 270 L$ per usd and takes into account getting back L$300 per week).

And I **think** the charter accounts get L$500 per week in stipend, so that is L$200 more than I get now -- another $0.74/wk * 52 weeks = 8.88/yr.

So, that is 98.40/yr + 14.28/yr + 8.88/yr = $121.56/yr

Given many of our feelings and confidence levels about SL right now, my $200-250 value might be a tad high, but I would probably still pay it.

I would not go so far as to say it will close that quickly. I think they are really going down the wrong path though and I think the reasons that me and many others are here will not exist in a year or there will be enough other changes that it will just not be fun any more. Given the rate that technology advances, it is also very possible that within another year, they will have some very viable competition.

Let's just say I have minimum faith in what SL will be like in a year. This past year has changed in such a negative way, regardless of all of the improvements that they have made in up time and overall grid performance.

Initial Charter membership cost 250 USD, Annual tier payments saved 300 USD, Annual stipend 89 USD so to me the account would be worth 650 USD but with the way LL are doing things who knows what will happen in 12/24 months

I go with Lil again. I don't necessarily think SL will be gone in a year although with LL anything is possible, but I also think that it could be a far different SL from the one many of us enjoy currently. And there could possibly be viable competitors by then as well.

Nice to see those figures. I had just tossed out a figure of roughly $500 or more if I had been asked a year ago. I guess I wasn't too far off the mark.
