Oh, we could quibble about this all day and I'm feeling a little feisty. I don't care what you think. You made a rude comment to someone about their personal disability. Just accept it and move along, rather than doing this tit-for-tat thing. Honeybear, everyone... Angel and i were a couple. I left 'her', and she proceeded to grief me and my mall tenants to the point where she was suspended 4 times, as well as rezzing prims in every sim on the grid and passing out notecards telling people i do all kinds of sexual things. And this was back in 2004. Now it is 2009 and 'she' is still going at it, even so much as to have edited my SL wikia entry to something awful recently which the Wikia admin promptly deleted and notified me. Angel Leviathan attacking me specifically is all about a person i dumped because all they knew how to say to me was "Shut the fuck up bri". She needs to move along - 5 years and counting.... _____________________

I find that my time in world varies alot over time. For the first 2-3 years I was probably in the 8-12 hours a day category.
The I sort of hit the been there done that phase and took several months off and out of SL entirely. Now I come mostly to spend time with family who live thousands of miles away. So I do log in nearly every day on one alt or another but it is rarely for more than 1-2 hours. Now if some outstanding project takes my fancy I might well go through another period of days or weeks of 8-12 hours a day.  _____________________

I start to wonder too. I just don't seem to get tired of SL, and the time passes so quickly. BT I don't get tired of SL until my body is literally shutting down and I am falling asleep at the keyboard. I glance up and find 4 hours has passed! Yikes! I am coming up on my 2 year Rez day in April, and my addiction has only deepened, not gotten less at all. I said 4 hours a day, on the poll. That's only because I can't get inworld on weekdays from work, and only inworld in the evenings. On weekends it's more like 8 hours a day. |

Yes, Briana that some how caused someone you know to commit suicide after they told me all your RL information - remember? Angel, you are so funny now. You cannot rez a prim in every single sim on the grid defaming me, you cannot hound the people in my store, you don't have Daniel Linden anymore to chill with in your alt and laugh about how you were suspended. You have nothing but back pedaling and calling me crazy and claiming i hurt your RL somehow when you are by far the most paranoid and secretive person i have ever known in SL. You have nothing, and i know it hurts to not be able to rip and run across the grid mass griefing like your golden years. You did not even maintain a wardrobe until we got together. I'm a yr a head of my RLs' SL addiction, so I've let up on a lot of things and come and go.
Watching him, never interested in computers having always taught and worked w/ them being a SL crackhead is annoying at times  _____________________

Actually I think that being in a situation where people/new situations can be dealt with easily might make someone a little more able to reach out IRL. This is so true I'm quoting it. SL isn't alone in achieving this. The web does it for many of us but we're talking SL specifics here so I won't derail .... if we can re-rail that is! I ticked 6 but that is average. Some days will see my logging off to do something and return in-world later. I don't include forum time here either as mine is rather fluid at the moment and will shortly be cut down again probably. _____________________

I didn't choose any of the poll options because the amount of time I spend in SL varies so much day to day. It can be anything from 15 minutes a week to nearly a week straight of 18+ hour sessions, depending on my level of interest and what mood I'm in that day(s). There's been times when I've sat down and logged in out of boredom, and found myself having a great time pulling another all-nighter. Then there's other times when I had been entheusiastically thinking about SL most of the day during the ho-hum at work only to log in, and then log out again 30 minutes later bored and lonely. Addicted?.. definately! Addicted to the point of causing problems? no, not really... I've gone over my allotted amounts of free time and SL spending money a few times, but it's not like I'm struggling to pay the bills or rubbing elbows with piles of dirty dishes as I type this. *eyes the 2 empty soda cans sitting there...it's ok.. they're not "dishes"* SL has helped with being somewhat shy and fearful of group speaking, so I think it's been a mostly positive experience. Still a few negatives to work on though, like my impulsiveness... which reminds me.. I still have a lot of L$ and there's lonely shoe stores out there.. *poof* OMG 15 minutes a week??? I would start twitching if that were all I could get of 'my SL time'. On vacation, I make sure I am staying at a hotel where I can get internet access on my laptop, SL goes on vacation with me too. Even at a yearly convention I attend, for a week each summer, I get daily SL time. I mean, I can't leave Treasure, or my cat Airie just laying around in bed for days on end, that isn't good for people/pixels. |

SL's greatest strength is that it can be many things to many people. It is also the one most in danger from what I see is eventual sanitation and homogonization. SL will probably be nicer, yet emptier at the same time. There is no rule as to how much time is too much to spend, it all depends on your situation and needs. Generally, as long as your real life isn't falling apart then have at it. Not sure what you edited but if you are chasing typos.... _____________________

For the first 2 months or so after I joined SL in December 2006, I was on as much as RL would permit.
Some days it could be 8 hours or more. I believe my record was one day when I was continously online from about 5pm in the afternoon until about 9am the next morning when I had to go offline because I had to go, not to sleep, but to work  Then it gradually started to go down. Now I'm at the level where there can be days when I'm not in at all. I chose 1 hour since it was the lowest option in the poll. |
