Could this be browser-related? I'm using Firefox. Nope. I use Firefox also but for a few minutes I degraded myself by logging into IE. I still don't have the news on there. Clearing cache didn't do anything either. |

1st thing I noticed was on the top left orange link to BUY LAND took ppl straight to the land store....great if youre new and have $1675 to invest. The other land link 'hot property' on the right centre takes you to the auctions page, which is even more confusing if youre new.

There only appear to be a few cosmetic changes - everything that was there before is still there now. Why is everyone making a fuss? I think they are making nice-nice with the Lindens in hopes of bags of Lindens. Or at least I think i saw something to that effect in this thread...  _____________________

Hello....? The point is to ENCOURAGE new users to go premium, not to get them to stay free accounts. LL has to make money somehow. And please, let's NOT START on free vs. premium accounts here. Nothing to do with "free vs. premium". Just let's be factual. You CAN buy land as a Basic account so signing up for Premium does not give you the 'Ability to buy land'. Also if you want to put it that way.. all land is leased (rented) as we all pay tier to LL somewhere along the line and only LL actually owns the land (but even they pay the colo owners for the servers). _____________________

It was different enough for me to go, "Oh, they changed something," but not different or useful enough for me to go, "OH!!! They CHANGED IT!!"
I guess it's because I don't need the giant orange button that says, "BUY LAND." A lot of the stuff seems pretty darned redundant, like most everything in the premium zone, because you can get to most of it via the pull down or under the 'my account' button below the name... I guess the whole affect for me screams, "FILLING SPACE," and not actually useful. Why not have a small calendar that people can click on and it will take you to that day's blog entry and a highlight of events that are taking place in that hour/half hour? Maybe it could have trivia like, "What happened on this day in..." to give people the sense of history? If it can't be useful, at least be entertaining _____________________

I liked it better when my sim was on it... but I guess i'm biased
Objectively, the layout is a little cleaner, the avies on most images look a little more up to date. More focus on premium instead of just 'getting as many people signed up as possible'. So overall an improvement. _____________________

edit: and I miss the map.. That hasn't worked for me since the beginning of this year.  I noticed the map was missing too. Are you using IE7 by any chance? I know for a fact that the map has never worked in IE7 because I created an issue in JIRA for it months ago. Probably a good guess - I'm using IE7 and get both the blog and news when logged in.. I know Meade isn't a premium, her home is on my land, so I think the deal is: - premium: blog, no news - basic: blog, news - nada: no blog, news I'm guessing the lack of news for premiums is an oversight/bug.. |

I quite like it. However, its not all matching up when it comes to colors. They introduced some dark blues with blacks on the bottom of the page thats not lining up with the rest of it. Perhaps they should try to change the white background to a blue (Like the rest of the website has) and see how that looks. And also for the top banner introduce some black, maybe a shadowy border.
