With no fanfare it appears that the frontpage got a makeover. I don't like it. But it's just me. What do you think?

It's great except that the "online now" link hops straight to the economy page...

I'm not too crazy about it. The "numbers" aren't right up front...

It doesn't show how many are online anymore. I always used that to tell me SL's current "health" - depending on the time of the day, many people online means it's doing OK, and not many online means there are problems and people either can't get in or they're bailing out - I can expect problems when I login.

I like the new version but also miss seeing the world stats on the front page..

I like the way that it is heading. It's obviously a work in progress( like much of SL ).

But overall, it's less cluttered, more negotiable. I like that they've obviously done some click-hit research and are attempting to place majority hits on the front page. Kudos to that.

To the site designer, please don't be affraid of having people scoll down. People expect to do this to find relevant link/info, long before taking the leap of digging deeper into the site.

I think it's amusing that rather than having a "Free Accounts!" button they now have one for "Upgrade to Premium!", which takes you to a page that still claims they charge $9.95 USD for each new Basic account, when the reality is that they stopped making it even possible to pay for additional Basic accounts months ago.

Not keen but with all the problems LL have, it comes way down the list.

I like it. It's cleaner. Looks more professional. I do miss the stats on the page though.

Any complaints I would have I believe would have more to do with getting use to the change rather than a complaint about the layout.

it's almost 2.0! *rejoice*

Whatever they are using to load the main_image_05 div lags a bit, but I like the rounded corners.

I'm not a big fan of the premium button. The best selling point for potential users is it's free.

If I never heard of SL before and wanted to create a new FREE account, I wouldn't know where to go from the new page. It seems that they've refocused their attention to existing accounts and try to convert them to Premium, rather than encouraging new free accounts. That may be just one step in the right direction. I suspect new account numbers are going to drop even more.

It looks nice.

But the front page should be for the people that are totally new to SL and want to join.

There's stuff on there that shouldn't really be there. and I don't like the big 'Go Premium' button. It should be a 'Join Now' button instead.

Something like this:

------------------------- Second Life ------------------------

Second Life is a cool 3D world where you can be anybody
and do anything you blah blah blah...

---------------------->> JOIN NOW << -------------------

Disclaimer - It's now quite working yet.

The basic layout is unchanged. just new pictures and misc useless changes... nothing to get excited about and no doubt thats why they didn't bother announcing it. The pictures are higher quality than before however.

I like the fact that the "Friends Online" link is now on the front page.

Looks like the online count and "US$ Spent Last 24h" have been added since this thread was started..

Yay they've finally upgraded their website! Torley's 3-month-old announcement has come to pass. I can only assume that the forum BBCode will be turned back on in a matter of minutes.

I neither like nor dislike the new design. However, I will be happy if this means they really do turn on the bbcode again now that the website has been upgraded.

I agree with Raynor that having a quick link to Friends Online is quite nice...

Wonder if we can get them to put in a quick link to the forums too?

Not sure the front page is tied to the forums pages..

/me does not expect this to signal the phoenix-like rebirth of vB code and the return of the great PHP tag. If might mean that the web devs now have more time to do whatever they're doing to the forums (support tie in?) though.

I'd say all told it does look more professional, and has more convenient links.

Yeah, at the moment you need two clicks (via "Community";) ... could be better.
