Are Big Lips a bad thing????

There is one famous avatar with lips that always make me LOL. But it seems to be a popular look in SL, so it's hardly abnormal here.

Are some of these large-lip skins made with the lip area outside of the lip mesh, so you couldn't reduce it if you wanted to? Otherwise, a nice skin that seems to have the wrong size lips could just be a slider-adjustment away from what you might consider perfect -- in other words, no need to pass them up just because of the apparent lip size.

When I was feeling sad I gave myself a permanent smile. Of course I look like the joker that way, but . . . it does look different. I suppose. I was just starring at them yesterday. I've lost all ability to judge lips, hips, and tips (aren'tcha glad I didn't say nips?), so I'll just leave this comment and flee.

The nice thing about SL is we can look however we want. I have seen some women who seem to go too full on the lips and some that are way small for my liking. It took me a long time to get my av the way I want her and I still do a bit of tweaking here and there as my tastes change. I also make a shape for every skin brand I buy as no 2 creators are the same. There are alot of skins I like and do not buy because they change me way too much in the lip area and even a shape adjustment doesn't help. I may wear different hair, skin, clothes, etc on a regualr basis but my av still looks the same in essence unless I really mix it up.

When I was newer I never cammed away from my av to see the bigger picture of me and for a long time I didn't realize my shoulders were too wide and my arms were too long and my hands too small. Unfortunately no one ever told me and I walked around like that for quite some time. Once I really got used to SL and cammed around my av, I was like omg why didn't anyone tell me I was out of proportion. After that happened to me I tried helping a few people out that I thought needed to be more proportionate. Some people were grateful for the help but then I got told off by a few people who said their av was just fine and to basically screw off. I also remember a long time ago a creator had some of the biggest female hands I have ever seen. Everytime she posted an ad, all I could do was focus on the hands and it reminded me of that Seinfeld episode about the woman with 'man-hands' Over time I noticed her hands became more cohesive, but for some reason the whole big hand thing bothered me lol.

I don't really help many people much with that due to the fact that I don't want anyone to think I am stuck up or whatever when all I wanna do is help. These days I figure that SL is a learning experience over time and that everyone sees things differently. We can't please everyone and as long as we are happy with what we look like, that is all that really matters.

I think you look great. Don't worry at all about what others think. There's nothing wrong with full lips and if your avatar makes you happy, that's all that counts.

I agree, its important to make an AV that suits YOU..not hat someone else's idea of beauty is. Im sure hope is too short, too thin and has a mouth that is much too large for their liking..but then again everyone has a right to their own opinion..right?

Goodness, you're all starting to make me feel self conscious here. I didn't know that this many people went around dissecting others. I don't often stare (cam) at people long enough to focus on any detail. The overall package is what I see, that includes the av's personality. Somehow, just as in RL, if the person is a jerk I will 'see' them differently - if that makes any sense.

I don't think I've ever noticed the size of another av's hands. As for faces, skins, I love to see what others have come up with, from the Sluttiest Bimbo to the Elf Queen in a ball gown. I don't think I've ever once thought 'Ew, ugly'. I do enjoy tweaking myself here and there, and I try to look good for me. Maybe I'm just not a detail person.

post dissected and QFT. You do picture people differently based on how they act. I hadn't considered this, but it's true. It's fun to do things with people in SL, but what it comes down to is the people behind the avatar. If they are fun people to hang out with, then the details of their avatar aren't that important.

I tweak Trout's look all the time, not because I want him to be irresistably handsome, but because it's fun to play with sliders. I don't really care what others think. I was a little taken aback when he was mistaken for a woman (dude - he has a BEARD) but I think the lack of giant steroid-induced muscles threw the other guy off.

At any rate, Yummy - your name is YUMMY for heaven's sake. Beautiful, full lips are mandatory. If your name was "Spinster" or "Angry" then thin, pursed lips and a scowl would be appropriate. "Bitter Freelunch" would be a weird name, so I think you should stick with Yummy.

I've been told my skin is too pale. (Not as much lately since people ~really~ don't want to hear my diatribes once I get wound up *grins*) But I like how it looks and my Partner likes how it looks...and those are the ony two opinions I care about.

Personally, I like them, they look absolutely YUMMY!

I don't see why people insist on criticising other's looks. I change my look all of the time and have many different styles, I like my look, yet have been criticised a few times.

Going from lips to other body parts.

Why is it most, practically all white females only concentrate on having big breasts but no hips and no ass?
For the most part this is the way it is in sl. I think they believe that having a nice or big behind is something awful.

On the other hand hispanic and black females are the ones with the butts and all the curves. Not talking about humongous behinds but nice butts with curves as well as curvy hips and thighs.

We, meaning Latinos and black men love our women shapely and they have to have that butt. I know many men other then these like that also. But what is it with women and their fear of having some meat back there. Don't they know this makes them more attractive?

Put two females together side by side, both just as beautiful face wise. One with a shapely behind and nice hip and thighs and one with no butt, no hips or thighs, no curves and for the most part who gets the attention? Get my point?

I"m not making this a race issue. I'm merely pointing out something that seems to be true in sl and it also transfers to rl too.

So why is it?

Hips and ass are associated with "fat" whereas breasts are clearly a feminine trait that one would wish to maximize. What you see as shapely, some women see as being "fat" on themselves. Body image distortions are a serious problem.

Now that I think about it, this could be a new branch to my rating biz. I could rate how well women kiss. You know, we guys judge you women pretty heavily on that sort of thing. If you aren't kissing right, we assume you don't know how to do other stuff, and you know how we get. You might be thinking about tuning up your technique.

All you have to do, strictly in the name of science and education, of course, is kiss me. I then rate you on how well you did. Same scale, 1-10, with a 1 being something you would get on your cheek from your grandma and a 10 being something that melts you into a little puddle of steaming water on the floor.
