hum, I have not seen them in my travels.. And all the skirts I have seen come with Nickers.. So could you tell me more about these.

Im not new in world, all the shops I go to just don't sell them.

The nickers you see with your skirts probably are the glitch pants. I call the glitch pants that I sell along with my dresses and skirts knickers. :)

My girl has a short but shapely ... er .. shape. She has one outfit with a non-prim skirt that makes her look .. well .. pear-shaped!

I mean no disrespect to girls who *are* pear-shaped .. but heck .. it's a bit of a shock when you're not expecting it.

It's not that difficult to adjust your avatar slightly, which will reduce the size of your skirt. Just Edit Appearance and go to Shape > Legs > Hip Width and Shape > Legs > Butt Size and reduce them a little (I find 10 works well, but do experiment!) and either do it each time you change to a skirt/dress or save a copy of that shape. I first learned this trick from a notecard from Janie Marlow, amusingly titled "Ack! Skirts Give Me a Big, Fat A**!" - hehehe

Btw guys, this also works for you when you are wearing jackets/tuxedos/trenchcoats etc that use the skirt mesh.

The point is, we shouldn't HAVE to adjust our shape just to wear a skirt.

Plenty of girls adjust their shape every year for swimsuits :)

QFT - And our pants shouldn't look like they're painted on - let alone the lower half of our jackets. And the texture shouldn't stretch into a blur at the side of the chest or around the groin. And skirt meshes should be one piece, should sway naturally and and should cover what is underneath. Honestly are there ANY other virtual worlds with such poorly designed avatars?

Given that the skirt is a separate 3D model that has to go around the avatar, I don't know that there's any way to attach it without making it slightly larger than the avatar. And while I agree that the meshes for both the avatar and skirt are pretty crummy compared to those found in other games, changing to something more detailed (more polygons/vertices) would cause problems, too (more lag, as well as "breaking" all existing clothing and skin textures). Hopefully someday they *will* improve, but they are going to have to make a lot of other changes beforehand to support the upgrade.

I hate splitting in skirts and even worse, skirts make my butt look like the back of an elephant! So when I wear a skirt, I always reduce it way down which looks ridiculous with anything except a skirt.

It is definitely a nuisance. I'm not going to waste time fiddling with the shape settings, as others have said it looks the way it does for a reason. Also I really don't have a lot of patience for adjusting prim skirt attachments. If it doesn't look halfway decent without a lot of fiddling it just gets trashed now.

Thanks Bopete, I'm aware of the bodge but I'd prefer the thing to work properly.
For an avatar based world, it seems a shame LL don't fix the avatar before making the world show up the avatar in an even worse light.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

My solution to this issue is not to wear any skirt that isn't on the jacket or pants layer.

I think i've lost count of the amount of skirts i've trashed cause they make my ass huge & i'm tiny! I now just refuse to buy any that aren't flexi, except now i'm wondering what I look like in windlight cause I wear real short skirts :{

Hello everyone, my husband was just looking over the forums and told me about this skirt splitting issue. I was just at a store that said they make prim skirts that conform to your avatar's body when you sit down! When I can remember where that was, I will post it. I didn't know they made skirts like that now. I did a little experimenting with skirts.

Here I am looking sexy in my Naughty Design, prim (not flexi) black skirt.

When I sit down on this box, my legs appear to poke through the skirt.

I decided to see what it looks like with the default skirts you can make while in Editing Appearance.

As you can see, my hips are rather large looking now with the default skirt at default size. Ah perfect for bearing prim babies...I guess...

My butt is rather big looking, unfortunately I am not married to sir Mix Alot...j/k hubby ;)

I increased the bustle size just a tad to see how much badonkadonk

When I sit in the default skirt at default size, my hands go through the skirt, and it looks like I am wearing a cylinder. Thankfully, I was wearing underpants.

This is an outrage! Were the fashion police to see me like this, I could be clubbed to death in an over color saturated alley within' the Windlight viewer. I found some Jira entries for this issue; vote for them!

I believe Ravenwear does a smart skirt script which might help with the issue of prim skirts passing through your legs.

Crap. This reminds me I was supposed to be working on an extension to the opensource smart skirt scripts, before I got distracted by weirdness in the animations these scripts have to track. Anyway, for more info about the current state of smart skirts including an open source script you can use to make your own, see /327/fa/218662/1.html.

All of which has to do strictly with prim "skirts." One thing about those that I've recently noticed because I'm rezzing things so slowly these days: They may not appear for quite a while after the avatar underneath is fully visible. Probably everybody knew this but me, but while testing out a script, I was pretty surprised to see my alt standing all naked and proud while his "skirt" rezzed around him. Ah, memories: just like being a n00b again! :p
