Look if you have to stay fully dressed from the waist down now ... SL is doomed!

Well, it was on topic, I just didn't include the on topic thing.
"A warning about wearing short skirts in SL. Even non-prim short shirts can have this annoying skirt splitting. Also, if you like wearing short skirts and minimal underclothes under that short skirt, be warned that Windlight causes a certain problem down there that is unsightly. If you wander around "flaunting yourself" and everyone hurriedly moves away from you at high speed, they might intimidated, or they might be using the Windlight viewer."

Wow, now I'm really glad I don't wear short skirts!

I'd include a screenshot, but this isn't the forum for screenshots of "there."

Okay, so if you're wearing a non prim skirt and your AO causes you to have a skin bubble, you best wear glitch pants to prevent this.

I sometimes really love how SL speak is developing into its own new completely incomprehensible language

Thank you!

I also find that many non-prim skirts sort of sit a little way from my waist. Like they are a couple of sizes too big.

Altering my waist etc does nothing to correct it, the skirt just moves too, of course, hehe.

I have a couple of really lovely outfits that I never wear simply because it looks like the skirt would fall off if I moved too quick.

You can also peek down the rim and see my panties :(

So don't be surprised next time I see you if I try to look down your skirt! ;) (I bet Yavanna will whack me for it though.... :D )

I have several system skirts I really like, and my avatar does have a rather large behind AND is short, but if I go for the Victorian look, it's perfect. Apart from the splitting issue. :(

@Lexxi: I thought "There" is one of SL's competitors? :D

Just a male opinion, but I'd steer clear completely of non-prim skirts. As you say, they look awful when you're dancing and they make bottoms look HUUUUge!

There is an easy way round these problems. I keep my popular outfits in folders, each of which contains a copy of my shape too. With skirts or dresses I use a modified shape with slightly narrower hips and flatter butt. So when I'm in a skirt or dress it looks consistent with my normal shape (which is slim and athletic anyway).

And I make anti kick-through leggings (also called glitch pants), with the same texture and length as the skirt or dress - this virtually solves the ripping phenomenon.

SL avatar meshes are just awful! It is crazy that the skirts don't even stay on the outside of our bodies!

Even a bad prim skirt looks better.

I bypassed the whole issue by intentionally slitting my skirt up both sides.

...of course, I have no problem showing a little skin.

Just a thought have not tryed this but has anyone???

Could you get shorts to wear as pants- to wear under the skirt, It would have to stop the skin from showing, of course textured the same color as the skirt. (Just an Idea, im sure this has been done.)

This is the reason I never wear skirts in SL.

Pretty new to posting and not sure if this has been said.

But tell us, Ray...how do small fuzzy rodents feel about the SL skirt woes?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Sadly, I'm only a forum furry. Inworld I have to put mirrors on my shoes like anyone else.

This is what we've been talking about, it's the infamous "glitch pants" to save you from this graphics glitch! ;)

Well I suppose that if we all complain enough about the avatar mesh with Windlight, maybe we could get LL to redesign the way skirts act while they're at it...?

I have this same problem and in spite of trying to alter my shape, the non-prim skirts (or system skirts?) still don't seem to fit correctly. Like Elgyfu, I have many dresses I can't wear because of this. Is there a solution that we are missing?

Nope. Wear the glitch pants and vote for the JIRA issue; hopefully LL will change the way skirts work.

Here is the actual JIRA skirt issue:

Note: In Windlight that inner thigh issue is made a lot worse. Looks like a huge cavern has been cut into you . . in the wrong spot. Looks very very bad. So bad that it is generally a good idea not to take off any clothes below your waist.

wow

so Windlight IS the end of Second Life.

<tinfoil hat>

So if LL can't effectively regulate sexual behavior in SL, they are going to try their darnedest to at least make it unattractive :p
