I know there isnt much that can be done about it, but do you hate it when you find a really pretty outfit.. and it comes with a non-prim skirt.. that when you stand in certain poses in your AO, that your skirt gets a huge split in it, where its not supposed to be??

What causes this?? and I will ask but i doubt there is.. any way to stop it from happening??

They look find when i am standing default..and very still.. but the minute i move, it gets large tears in it..it just frustrates me

Depends on the legs in the skirt. if they're nice, no it doesn't bother me.

Just a male opinion, but I'd steer clear completely of non-prim skirts. As you say, they look awful when you're dancing and they make bottoms look HUUUUge!

Even a bad prim skirt looks better.

Thanks Osprey, didnt even think of that, i have a really nice kimino.. one of the only non prim skirts that doesnt make my arse look the size of an elephant, and i really wanted the splits to not show!!

I think its the only non prim skirt i would wear to be honest..

Any ideas why they do split?? as sometimes they appear to stretch?? but then other times they hardly take anything at all before they split

Sometimes an animation will move the avatar's skin outside the place where the skirt thinks it should be. You're not seeing a skirt split so much as a skin bubble.

It's the mapping that is used for the skirts... it sucks. It only stretches so far and then it splits rather than molding to the leg. What could be done about it? No clue, but I have the feeling it isn't high on the list of things to do either.

Yes, mine too. I'm trying to get a friend to make real flexi coat tails, but the settings are proving difficult:)

Maybe the mesh of the non prim skirts isn't the best thing in the world but you gotta tell me then how to make long non poofy skirts or pencil dresses...

It's okay to criticize only if you have a solution.

I have that problem, too, and really hate it. I usually also wear glitch pants so that you can't see the skirt splits. It's a pain when you're trying to make a dress. I also got a modifiable shape to wear for those situations....I can make her skinnier than my normal shape, without much butt. If I use that, the skirt splits don't appear. My normal shape is kind of curvy....maybe she needs a skirt in plus size proportions...not sure.

Like the skin bubbles on the avatars inner thighs.. this is horrible. some of the animations are outstanding, but the positions and stretch make the inner thighs develope huge chunks of missing skin (looking) the fair skins do this less from what I have been told..

This annoys me more than skirts.. flexi skirts don't "stay" put when you do animations either... sometimes they flutter about you and you're just a giant ball of simlag....

Just wear pants!!

If the skin has enough "bleedover" that doesn't happen much. It's not so much the colour of the skin as how far beyond the lines the skin goes.

I honestly don't think I've seen a skirt that makes a bum look bigger, realistic perhaps, but not truely "BIG". Not all guys need a girl to have a zero bum slider setting.

Okay, so if you're wearing a non prim skirt and your AO causes you to have a skin bubble, you best wear glitch pants to prevent this.

I sometimes really love how SL speak is developing into its own new completely incomprehensible language ;)

My girl has a short but shapely ... er .. shape. She has one outfit with a non-prim skirt that makes her look .. well .. pear-shaped!

I mean no disrespect to girls who *are* pear-shaped .. but heck .. it's a bit of a shock when you're not expecting it.

Note: In Windlight that inner thigh issue is made a lot worse. Looks like a huge cavern has been cut into you . . in the wrong spot. Looks very very bad. So bad that it is generally a good idea not to take off any clothes below your waist.

I also find that many non-prim skirts sort of sit a little way from my waist. Like they are a couple of sizes too big.

Altering my waist etc does nothing to correct it, the skirt just moves too, of course, hehe.

I have a couple of really lovely outfits that I never wear simply because it looks like the skirt would fall off if I moved too quick.

You can also peek down the rim and see my panties :(

I have no idea if it was just one woman, one skin, or everyone. But yes, that was . . um . . sickening. Maybe not the end of SL, but definitely the end of my using Windlight at the same time I'm looking at anyone nude.

Yes the purty skies are going to fall :p

On topic: I never ever wear anything with one of those slider skirts because well they make my bum look big and I haven't got a size 0 bottom. I also hate those splits, but glitchpants do work wonders in that respect.
It's a shame because I have two beautiful gowns that I never wear because they come with a slider skirt.

Well, it was on topic, I just didn't include the on topic thing.

"A warning about wearing short skirts in SL. Even non-prim short shirts can have this annoying skirt splitting. Also, if you like wearing short skirts and minimal underclothes under that short skirt, be warned that Windlight causes a certain problem down there that is unsightly. If you wander around "flaunting yourself" and everyone hurriedly moves away from you at high speed, they might intimidated, or they might be using the Windlight viewer."
