1. That's the price of fame, O Mother of The Thread.
2. You're right, your detractors are throwing garbage. You're not responsible, the thing developed a life of its own.
3. You're wong, you don't "not fit in". You're part of the Forum Family. An eccentric part, but then, a lot of us are.
4. Good lord, Jig...not another "clique" thread!

At least I am a mother to something...
yes they do throw garbage, it bothered me at first, now I delete as soon as I realize what I am reading (and my guess, because I did not know any of the names and when looked up in world, they were new, is alts)
being part of a family doesn't always equal to fitting in (I have a brother, who for many many years just did not fit into our family, we called him the black sheep, always a touch outside, RL family I mean)
They are ALL clique threads, didn't you know that?

My reply to the "Just ignore and let this one die thread":

Just ignore it and let it die.

If it doesn't, who cares? You're SUPPOSED to be ignoring it anyway. :p

I've never posted in it, read it, nor do I expect to ever post in it or read it.

I *ignore* it. :)

ROFL at least someone knew what ignore meant :)

I hesitate to request this for 2 reason
1 I highly doubt they would
and
2 If I did request it, chances are they would just close the thread and put at OP's request it has been closed, and I do not want to do that.

Nor should you in all truth. The thread should be closed if it is causing performance issues with the forum, or if it somehow causing mass chaos in the rest of the forum, which despite the hyterical hand wringings of a few , is not.

You want to have issue with the people who frequent the place and their behavior outside of it, fine. That is perfectly understandable. But the existence of that thread did not suddenly make that behavior happen. The same complaints have been around long before that thread even existed. At first it was just at the loose group of regulars who hung out together. Then once the in world Forum Cartel was formed, people now had a name to point their blame at. Now it's the thread regulars, who for the most part weren't even here when the plaque took hold. It's just scapegoating. Closing the thread would just revert people to being the same way individually. The general tone of the forum wouldn't improve, most likely it would get worse.

I agree that no one from that group can really trot out any behavioral scoldings to any other thread poster, even those whose postings seem as nonsensical and devoid of substance as any in the thread, but a double standard? There is no standard to double, it's currently a free for all, like it or not.

As for "Acknowledging the rights" of forum posters, when did that thread become the Magna Carta of the forums? Nobody is in a position to acknowledge anyone's rights. That is reserved for the forum owners. All we can do is express opinions. Which is all they are. We all know about opinions.

*It's only a forum. No one dies.

We could just start a new thread if it really bothered you Rha. The old one would still be there for archival purposes. I don't think it's really the thread that matters, just the people who post on it.

The thread doesn't bother me, it is the hate mail that used to bother me (by hate mail I mean people sending me msgs (either here or in world) saying I am a loser for starting the thread because it was the only way I could get attention, get people to like me, that I deserve to be ignored and die, etc

but now I just simply ignore any such im's or pm's
not worth it.
The only reason I would want my name off the thread is to stop the im/pm's but, oh well

no need to start a new thread, it would not be the same. even though I now rarely look or post in there, I feel a lot of folks enjoy it, and it is almost like a sub forum of sorts

(I really do not see why it is such a big issue for some)

um brenda, I do not have issues with anyone in that thread
my issue is with the cowards who use alts to send me im/pm's about how much of a loser I am and that I should be the one to be ignored and die, because I started that thread.

(oh, the quote of mine that is in your post, was referring to me requesting they remove my name as the OP of that thread, not about me requesting to shut down the thread, I have no desire, or intent of closing the thread, which is why I said I hesitate to request my name be removed, they would probably just close it.

Well forward those pms to me in the future and I'll say nasty stuff back to them for you.:p

I don't know why it's a big deal to some either. Everyone is welcome on that thread. It's just a fun thread. People actually "like" each other on it. That can't be a bad thing for a forum.

heh not worth it
I just ignore and do not reply to them, for all I know it could be the same person creating a new alt each time, trying to get a rise out of me.

*shrug*

hell for all I know, it could be someone who uses that thread, or has posted here, or heck, even chatted with me on their reg avatar, but I do not worry about it.

water, duck, ya know

Besides, although you had the first post, it was really Mac that set the course for what the thread became. People that would complain to you about that haven't read what transpired that first night.

Rha, stuff like that is just garbage, and anyone sending it is the same, they should be ignored and left to die. our posting history here is what it is, and it speaks for itself, like most of the rest of us. First off a lot of us are attention whores, that is obvious. Very few stick to the letter and post strictly on the Q and A basis without occasional detours. And so many of your other postings could be called into suspect as cries for attention before that one. It's Mac's fault actually, the bastige. *shakes fist*

Some people are just mean and miserable, taking themselves way too seriously, or feel others don't take them seriously enough, and use the anonymity afforded by the internet to make themselves feel better. I think it is LCD generated madness or something. Maybe the coming Nanny State will pass a law requiring people actually step away from computers several times a day.

That was made obvious by a person today who claimed all sorts of things about what went on in the thread, yet only being there very briefly.
