From: Seven Okelli About driving snakes:
Perhaps St. Patrick drove the snakes from the man's pants?
. I had a car once that you had to put the steering wheel between your legs. Pep (I sold it because it was driving me nuts.)

From: Pserendipity Daniels I understand that is covertly acknowledged by most Irish people that he was actually probably Welsh, although with Roman connections. He was kidnapped by Irish raiders and worked as a swineherd before escaping back to Wales, getting educated and choosing to return to Ireland to educate them in turn. He impressed them by banishing snakes from Ireland, which was pretty sneaky since there had never been any there in the first place. Pep (No, I wasn't there - I'm not quite that old - but that is the version I was told by an Irish historian friend.) PS Haggis is now much more accessible - instead of two hours boiling it takes ten minutes in a microwave; like Christmas pudding. ) Haggis is a wonderful dish. Like any regional "standard" it has its supporters. I think finest of all baked or prepared sausages or pies are Blood (or Black) Pudding and Melton Mowbray Pork Pie. Tripe is really excellent also. Old dishes can be so delicious - like jellied eels which are queasing at first but are so tasty.

Champagne in it's current form is also English. The French were producing a rather uninteresting still wine and we added the second round of fermentation to make it sparkling.

From: Conifer Dada As a British person, the fact that haggis might be of English origin rather than Scottish makes no difference to the likelihood that I would eat any, which is still 0% !!!
It is also supposedly true that St. Patrick was of English origin, being from Somerset in south west England and of Romano-British ancestry. Of course, in St. Patrick's time, neither England nor Ireland existed as nations. England was coming to the end of bing ruled by the Romans and Ireland, I think, was a series of kingdoms and principalities. St Patrick was from Powys in Wales.

. Until very recently there *was* no French language. Pep (It could be argued that it is still the figment of the Academie Francaise's imagination.)

I admit I'm from Scotland and also admit I do love haggis.
Regardless of its origin my preferred ways to eat it are as follows:
(1) Ironically as a replacement for the black pudding in a "Full English" breakfast. (2) Eaten out of doors on a dreich hillside, heaped on oatcakes and sprinkled with whisky.
Aside from all that, I'm quite happy to do a deal.
We get to keep calling Haggis Scottish if the English can keep calling the Bank of England.. well English.

The castle is one of the best builds I've seen and there are lots of fun things to do. They are having a Fair next week with lots of events - and there is even SL Albannach and they have permission from the real Albannach to perform in SL. (I did their drumming animations.) I've not yet convinced them about deep fried mars bars though - I think they thought I was joking!
