Nicholaz, thanks for all your work on the viewer! Like many people, I dropped what I was doing to create a supply of megaprims in sizes I have long needed. I posted previously that I wanted to look into compiling viewers. I still plan to do that, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen anytime soon. However, I wanted to mention a couple of features I was wanting to add. The first is a feature to save scripts locally to my hard drive. This has been done in another viewer (I forget which one), but I found I didn't like anything else about that viewer. Since that brief test of the viewer, I have also thought that a feature to save notecards on my local hard drive would also be desirable. I had a near-panic several days ago when it seemed most of my inventory was showing, with the exception of a number of notecards. Switching to an earlier viewer, I was able to access those notecards again. This incident has had me thinking about the many times I have had problems with notecards that didn't open, or couldn't create, and had to resort to using MS Notepad and do a lot of copy/paste operations between game and desktop. With this in mind, it would be nice if, when working on either a script, or a notecard, that there would be some checkbox that would allow saving these in-world, and keep backup copies on my hard drive.

Regards!

Wow; 2 excellent suggestions, I second both. I probably spend a good half an hour doing copy and paste of text files for an average session in SL. Be it scripts I am uploading from LSLEditor, or product documentation updates. And conversely backing up scripts and notecards that I have edited whilst in world. An option to save text files would be great on its own; the option to save and/or load would be priceless.
Maybe in the File menu right next to “Save Texture”, and have the option show whenever a script or notecard is open.

Andromeda: I hear you :-), but that would be quite an effort and I currently don't have enough time for that.

(Btw, I think it would be a lot easier to just put the stuff in a plywood box and store that on the sim somewhere for backup.)

I give all my content to an alt as backup, and keep relesed code in boxes too, but the real powere of Andromeda sugestion is the ability to have the same file in both places that you work with it, rather than pure backup.

Is it possible to connect to the Beta (Preview) ADITI grid using the Nicholaz viewer and if so how do you do it ?

Thanks

Beta has a separate viewer and his are designed for specific versions, so probably not.

I suppose you could *try* using his ECf with it, but I don't know if it'll work.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Yes, Anne, but not exactly.

If you build a client for debug, you can connect it to either main grid or aditi grid, along with a dozen or two others (which I have no idea what they are). I suspect there may be a way using command line options, but don't know.

What? You don't need a special viewer to connect to aditi.

Torley made a video about this the other day.

Hit Ctrl-G at startup to display a dropdown list of grids you can connect to and select Aditi. Agni is the main grid. Don't bother with the others.

I believe the question was "can Aditi, the beta grid, be accessed by a viewer made by Nicholaz?"

I have just tested all of my current Nicholaz viewer installs, including BE-W, EC-f and EC-xf2, and found that the ctrl-G approach did not work. I also tried ctrl-G on Dazzle, Coolviewer Windlight, the awviewer, and found it also did not work. Nor on any of my Linden-viewers.

My bad for putting out bad information. It was Prospero Linden, and the command is CTRL-SHIFT-G.

Ok, I appreciate the update.

I have re-tried this, using SHIFT-CTRL-G, with the EC-f viewer, and nothing happens when I press this magic keystroke. I have tried other viewers, too. And I have reviewed the blog entry where this is documented. But nothing happens. I don't get a new place showing on my viewer giving me a choice of which grid to log into or anything. And, control-shift sequences work in-game and elsewhere.

I just put "--aditi" at the end of the Target on a shortcut.

"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -set SystemLanguage en-us --aditi

Works like a charm in CoolSL... Probably works on Nicholaz too.

Quick question: I'm using the EC-f build and sometimes I notice the top menu bar is green rather than the default dark grey. Is this an indicator of something, or just a glitch? It doesn't happen every time I log, but it's just happened as I got inworld again this time around. Everything else seems to be fine.

Edited to add a screenshot:

I installed EC-f today and the stability was amazing!!! However I have a major problem that the camera won't work the way it used to. Now whenever I focus on an object and rotate, instead of rotating around the object, the camera pans around its position, like the AV head looking around.

Is it supposed to be like that?? If it's a bug or a setting, then how can I fix this?

Thank you for reading this :)

Had to post a rave of the Nicholaz Old School, wow, amazed. I thought my SL days were actually over last night when my 'good' computer blew up, yeah not really much good if you ask me. But my older standby laptop is flying through SL now, even more stable and far faster than my big clunky, and now dead, PC tower. If you struggle with speed, Old School is amazing. I mean windlight & glow are gone, no voice, but I never had the option anyway, not on this computer anyway. So if you monitor these forums, thanks for thinking about the 'lil guys', much appreciated.

I used Old School for the longest time, it really is great. I would have given up on SL without it.

between EC-F and whats left of the kerstien viewer..i still never touch the RC viewer..

when everyone is crashing all around me and not getting in sl is when it really shines most and becomes a beautiful thing hehehehe :D

Nicholaz and SL version 1.22.11
03-21-2009 19:15
Does anyone know if any version of the Nicholaz viewer works with Linden Lab's latest update (ver. 1.22.11)? I tried installing both the Eye Candy and Old School version of the software, following the installation text to the letter each time, and couldn't get it to start.

I kept getting the error: Nicholaz.exe - Entry Point Not Found. ?sEmptyBuffer@?$nsCharTraits@G@@2PBGB could not be located in the dynamic link library xul.dll.

I'm not a programmer, so I have no idea what this means. Can anyone help?
