Is anyone using this at the moment?
I used the first version to be launched some time ago, and it worked great. However, none of the subsequent versions seem to work for me - I login and they just crash. I am reinstalling 18a now to see if that works. Can anyone who is using it tell me which version they have managed to get working please? I absolutely need to use this, as the memory leak on the official client is getting worse - it went over 800mb a few moments ago! Something has to be done.

18xf is very stable

Hey Conan - I've been using 18xf since the day Nick released it. It's been very stable for me and much better than SL's voice enabled client.

I use it all the time, didn't have to do anything to get it to work. 18a was very stable for me, now using the most recent, which i think is 18g. However, if you are using the most recent SL client (voice) you have to use his "experimental" viewers, the numbering there is 18x<letter>.

Make sure you have the right nick viewer for whatever SL Client you are using. He pretty much explains it on his site.

EDIT: Just found 18xf, will try that one. The problem stems from the fact I'm on my desktop which I haven't used in six months as my fiance has taken my laptop out of the country with her, and she's obviously been messing about with the desktop while she's been using it. I think I'll ban her from messing about with stuff.

I am currently using 18h - if you are using the non x versions, you need to make sure you do not have the voice client installed. He does have a version for the voice system though, the x series.

Wasn't the point of open sourcing the client so they could allow interested customers to fix bugs for them so that LL could get the benefits of fixed bugs without the cost? I suppose LL hasn't bothered to task anyone with integrating Nicholaz's widely acclaimed changes back into the core. Oops, sorry, I must be traveling through another dimension - a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. *wanders off muttering to self about bananafish and purity of bodily essence*

I think Nicholaz has his own in world group. May be worth checking out.

The in world group has notices when a new version is available.

I use 18i on the latest version of SL (most recent). Is this how it should be? EDIT: Well i just tried all a-i versions and they all crash upon loading into the world.

If you have the latest version of SL installed, you have to use the X clients - the X means it works with the SL Voice client. That is why I does not work - you need the XF version. It is in his downloads/experimental directory.

Added voice chat without the crappy new interface that i hate so much.

Possible bad news. From: Nicolaz Unless I introduced something nasty, this will be the last bleeding edge release for some time. There are still problems left (performance, increased memory use, etc.), but these are of Linden origin. After having spent literally weeks of fixing bugs and stabilizing the viewer prior to voice, it is utterly frustrating to see the viewer being broken again in new ways. Straightening out the GUI was bad enough, but digging again through the intestines to fix things and plumb holes which were ok before and, worst of all, which do not seem to be related to voice functions, is something which at the moment I simply do not want to do.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Possible bad news. :/ We may end up having to go back to the crappy linden viewer soon then. But yea i understand his frustration, because i share it. All LL knows how to do is break things.
