yes, I have always made it a mission of mine never to lie about my physical appearance, actually never to exaggerate about anything on the internet, although I had been tempted once or twice

I have to LOL because no avatars have cellulite, double chins, share tires, tea bag balls, etc.... that'd honest...ya, right! Everyone in SL is physically perfect - I actually find it rather dull in that respect. But, it is also nice because you are not judged solely on your appearance - good or bad. People encounter prejudice either way - I know!

Not exactly.
Another way is to have on its profile a real life pic and/or a link to facebook profile or something, although that too can be modified accordingly.
Another way is for LL to have a system to requires for a player to select their RL sexuality.
Not sure how that would work, but it is an idea ;)

I do have a Facebook profile! I never thought of linking them. Although, the nature of my work would prevent me from doing that. Who wants to be "professional" IW?

smiles...

much of relationships here, like in rl, are pure chance... a month in SL, i was exploring in an area i found interesting and started chatting with a cheeful, kind blond woman... and promptly fell in love.

beautiful soul; intelligent, gentle, joyous, loving, sensual...
Seven months later, we're still in love. and i'll love her, quite frankly, for the rest of my life... she is my heart...

Never forget that SL is real.... relationships here can be quite powerful, emotions here are pure.... many hearts are broken, some mended...

many souls here are seeking love... some find it. your poor author offers himself as an example...

So sweet...

I actually *do* know of some avatars who are on the pudgy side, or who have double chins or big noses or otherwise don't look like the so-called "ideal." There might even be a market for cellulite-textured skin, or prim cellulite (not that *I'd* buy it, 'cause I like being slender and fit in SL). What people find attractive varies; anyone remember the character on Ally McBeal who was turned on by neck wattles?

Being untrustful can hurt a relationship before it has even begun... if you cannot bring yourself to get over the suspicion, then maybe an internet relationship is not for you :)

Damn, that is so true! What is the deal with everyone freaking out over honesty? You want complete disclosure? Date a relative! There is always mystery in relationships. If someone has the goal to meet a RL life mate, you are better off doing so IN RL. At least that is the lecture I keep getting from my sister! LOL

I guess some people believe that their friends and those they care about on a deep emotional level should be honest with them, regardless of whether the relationship is an online one or not. You know - golden rule, human compassion and empathy, etc... All that garbage about personal integrity and moral fiber aside, being honest with someone is the right thing to do. Big karma points there.

Aside from karma.....honesty is also good to avoid misunderstandings. Everyone should know where they stand with another person, boundaries if you will. IMO

Sorry, Yosef, but nobody has used the "band camp" line here in a long time and I just couldn't resist. :)

Just don't let those who are scared stiff of using voice instill in your mind you shouldn't do it. And heaven knows these panic stricken indiviuals who roam these forums will give you all kinds of cheap excuses ranging from they have never-before-heard-accents to broken mics as reasons for they not using voice.

You'll see. Just keep watching and reading.

At times I wish it were true as I don't want to be bothered when I do drop in. At times.

Besides, don't divert it from here in the forums to me. I'm not the one with panic problems when it comes to using voice. It won't work, Torok.

Try again.
