Hey guys
I was wondering how is dating/relationships working on SL?
Are there specific locations for that?

Sorry for the stupid questions,but I am still new to SL and I didn't find by searching on forums

It works pretty much the same way as RL... go to places that you find interesting.. meet someone, have a few dates.. dancing, talking, playing... fall in love... break each other's hearts... rinse and repeat.

....However erbor has summed it up really - look up places of interest in search, go there and see who you meet! Finding friendships can be a quick process or can take a while...this part of SL is no different to RL.

I think the best thing is just to go to a place you find interesting. Go to places where you enjoy, and others will be there who enjoy it too. I'm sure there are places specifically for people to meet up, but I dont know any of them.

How do you know? I wish I had those sort of skills... i might not get into so much trouble so often lol.

Relationships, they can be as annoying, stressful or nice as real life but without the rl face to face stuff or body odor...

I've been wearing a bright red "Date Me" sign set to full bright as I rotate on a 16m parcel next to the home or business of my intended-du-jour. My profile says I'm available for $L999,999. So far no luck. I'd advise trying something else.

I started life on the www in 'chat-rooms' first 3 or 4 months was cybering and it was quite fun, but I soon realised it wasn't going to stay fun for long, when my contacts started to accuse me off cybering other women and ignoring them, even got one death threat. However, i did meet a woman on there who i thought would be an ideal RL partnership, I had to travel around the world to Oz though, from London UK and when we meet, I realised straight away that she wasn't the person she made out to be on the site, well that was nearly 10 years ago now.

I joined SL just over a year ago and decided from the outset that I wouldn't do pixel sex/cybering here. I made many friends quite quickly and I saw that with a few of them they wanted more than friendship, but the closest I got to pixel sex was just nudity, I found the whole concept pretty boring, hell I wanted to build stuff. However, there was one woman who I got on with really well, even though we spoke only occassionaly and as time past i realised she spoke the same language as me and knew about similar topics.

She is in USA and I had two shows up and coming in NYC so I casually mentioned I would invite her to the shows, to cut a longer story short, I just spent a week with this woman in NYC and it was one of the most wonderful things that has happened to me in a long time, I guess i'm really very lucky

Dating in SL works basically just like online relationships in other places.

Some of the props are just better.

and some of the avatars are better than RL people too, well in fact one could say always expect your partner to have fatter legs in RL, LOL

yeah but lying about physical appearance is as old as the internet.

Either that or the number of 6'2 perfectly proportioned men and blonde 5'6 size 2 women is VAST.

yes, I have always made it a mission of mine never to lie about my physical appearance, actually never to exaggerate about anything on the internet, although I had been tempted once or twice

Personally I have no problems with cyber and the likes.
However even in cyber,I like to deal with RL woman.
Not sure how it is possible to make the difference on here between real woman and possible men that take the appearance of woman

Another way is to have on its profile a real life pic and/or a link to facebook profile or something,although that too can be modified accordingly.
Another way is for LL to have a system to requires for a player to select their RL sexuality.
Not sure how that would work,but it is an idea
