You've been in SL too long when....

I was just reading the thread about SL addiction, and boy can I relate! I've only been here a couple of months, and I already realize SL is taking too much of my RL time. I shut down yesterday to paint, sew, garden and and generally catch up on my real life activities. As we were going to bed last night, my DH confided a similiar addiction-in-the-offing. So, we were making jokes:

You know you've been in SL too long, when you wander the aisles of the grocery store wondering how many prims are in your basket. Or re-evaluating your living room furniture in terms of the "prims used". ;)

You reach the checkstand at the grocery, and wonder how many Lindens you could've bought with that grocery money. :)

You write 'tier payment' in your checkbook when pay your mortgage.

You're trying to put the tiny little screw back in your eyeglasses, and thinking "This is a job for Prim Docker."

You're telling your 90-year-old Granny about your weekend parachuting trip...SL style. When she starts turning green, you realize she has no clue what Second Life is, and thinks you risked your RL neck. ;)

You install a computer in your SL home, so your avatar can play in RL while you're sleeping.

You introduce yourself to strangers by your SL name. "Hi, I'm DragonLady.... I mean, uhm....I'm...." :)

You start considering installing a teleporter so you won't have to carry the laundry upstairs.

....

I'm sure y'all can think of many more. :)

You drive down the street on your way to work, and pass by a house that strikes your fancy, and you estimate the number of prims it would take to build it in-world.

Once I was driving along and saw a square cardboard box next to the road. For a split second I saw it as a plywood cube.

You are addicted when...

You walk down the street looking above peoples heads to see what they are called.

You stop coveting your neighbour's house because the prim count is too high.

You start a sentence on the phone with /me...

You notice the dust more, because there isnt any in SL

You start wishing you had an inventory instead of a closet/wardrobe.

You're frustrated in RL because you can't just zoom your camera in on anything you want to look at. I get this one a lot in RL and also especially whenever I'm looking at web pages.

You tell your RL significant other to "Grab the Pink/ Blue poseball."

I went to Wal-Mart last night to pick up a few things and noticed tht one part of the store was being remodeled and part of the wall was unfinished plywood.

I thought to myself, "They need to texture that part of the wall..."

:D

When your RL neighboor moves out and you look longingly at the empty lot wondering how many prims you could get if you merged it with your lot.

happened to me 2 weeks ago lol

I have confession my realities have merged.
When I am not builiding or in Second Life and on computer I am look for real life things to turn into prims or textures and objects that I can draw for Second Life.
When I am walking down the street I am think wonder if I could use the part of artechure for design in Second Life.
Anyone else do that?
Weridest thing that happen I was laying downing and watching television and something really strange and odd happen. Most likely dreaming or hallucinating because I was tired.
Any way I thought to myself how did they get the animation to do that or was that a gesture?

I know I've said this before but it's still funny to me. There's a blocky square gray building on the way home, with square windows. Every time I see it I think, "gray loading textures" lol.

I get dreams that are supposed to be in SL but my brain can't quite figure it out so they are in RL, but about SL. I get very surreal dreams from that mix.

When I get in my car in the morning to drive home, after a long slow shift at work where I was on SL most of the night, and I have to remind myself to watch out for trees and people and other cars, because damage could actually occur.

This is only my second week and I have experienced two effects already. One is when I shut my eyes the imagery looks like it is swooping and turning as if I am flying out of control.

The other was when I looked out of the window and saw a black shape moving in the sky and wondered who it was. Then I suddenly remembered that none of my neighbours can fly and it was actually just a bird.

When you glance up at the light fixture in your dining room and think to yourself "is that a sploder? can I dump some money into it?" and then you catch yourself and realize you're standing in your RL dining room, and it's just the light fixture you ordered from target.com 3 years ago.

I've done all of the above but I'm a relative oldbie. I often say lol to my friends in RL and although they were somewhat confused at first are used to it now.

One time in RL woke up and still half sleep, opened the window as I had seen something interesting. Flexed by legs ready to fly out to it but fortunately realised what I was doing in time not to launch myself out.
