I think there would be news stories.

And some people would speak out about it.

Something.

You don't live in the US, though, right?

So maybe its different in other countries.

-----------
Here in the US the way they do it is Lure people to a RL meeting with a make-believe underage person. Hence the joke about all the little girls on the internet being the FBI.

True, but these 2 I heard, the supposed kids announced after they had cybered that the males in question had been with young teenage girls, one after quite a few weeks of encounters. In both cases they just muted them and never heard anything again.
Last thing you would do in Australia is go to the authorites or media and have your name and chat logs on the national news as a suspected pedofile.
And international child pedophilia authories work together quitewell too.

Wow? You have an insurance policy covering online cybering mishaps up to $US50k? :)
I said $50,000 Lindens not $US too. A 14yo is probaby smart enough to only try for a few hundred bucks US. :)

Well, yes, my wife is an oncology nurse and I am a CPA that works situations that encompass complete breakdowns, so, yes, we carry insurance policies that cover a wide range of personal and professional situations. FWIW, the policy is generally $ 250,000 for most covered situations, but that is not very much for professional and personal liability. If I were in a situation involving heavy fiduciary responsibilities, probably $ 1,000,000 would be more appropriate. OTOH, the premiums aren't much even for $ 1,000,000 if your experience is zip on the pay out side.

OTOOH, I do occasional stuff for a pediactrician/obstetrician and their premiums are amazing. I would have to go on welfare after paying them. They do make several hundred thousand more than I a year, though.
