Instead of asking the usual yearly "do you use ignore", i decided to directly address the people who do not use the ignore function.
When you run across posts from particular people that you find often upset you, or that you simply choose to not want to read for whatever reason - why do you not Ignore that person?
What are the reasons you choose to not use the ignore function.

What are the reasons you choose to not use the ignore function. I like to know when people are splitting infinitives. Pep (No-one upsets me; I would prefer to know for sure what sort of an idiot someone was than have to guess at it. )

From: Briana Dawson What are the reasons you choose to not use the ignore function. I don't think I have ever found anyone that bugs me enough to never read them again.

I generally don't use it, because it bugs me to see the replies to the "ignored" individual by others, out of context.
It's easy enough for me to simply see their name, and skip reading their post, if they have earned a reputation as a known troll, or if in a particular thread someone is off on a tirade about something.
And occcasionally, even the worst troll may have something constructive and useful to say.

For me using "Ignore" is like reading a book with random pages missing.
That said there are some people (but only very few) who I find mildly annoying. It is easy to just ignore them when I see fit, without using the "Ignore" feature.

My finger on the ignore button is very quick. It spares me a lot of annoyance.

I don't use it. It is just as easy to skim or skip. If posts are too long I do that anyhow, irregardless of its author.

I've only ever used it once and that was for less than a day, I guess I believe everyone has a right to a view no matter how much I may be annoyed by that view.

I use it when I find the poster consistently contributes only personal attacks to threads. I mean, I love off-topic and thread jacking for mindless pleasure, but keep the personal stuff to IM or your personal blog.
I also use it because I tend to get just as hostile and that's one less temptation I need in my life.

I've never used it on any forum. I like reading a topic discussion and if they ever do go askew because of drama queens it just adds to the flavor and humor of a forum.

I use it when a poster gets particularly asinine and annoying. I generally undo it eventually 'cause if they annoyed me it must mean they caught my attention for some reason that i happened to read them- so hope against hope, if they are still around I might try again- sometimes it works other times they are just as much a rag as i thought originally so dont need ignore, my eyes just glaze over. Fortunately, drive-by trolls are far between, the home-grown ones you get used to.

I don't use it, but sometimes I think I should.
Generally, if I think "I should put this jackass on ignore" I stop paying much attention to any of their posts.

I can't be bothered. I'll either keep on scrolling or click on the magical red X icon on my browser tab. If I find that someone really starts to bother me when reading the forums, then I generally know it's time to start playing that new game all the cool kids are raving about called First Life.

This is soooo true. And a good majority of the ones starting or getting caught up in drama do not even realize they are doing so. .

I use my built in ignore function, which doesn't need forum software!
Plus a lack of focus and real life distraction while reading are great helpers too.

I have only used it on one poster that I was sure I would not want to hear anything else they said. I find most the time it is easy to just quickly skim past posts that are annoying.
