OK - serious question, please no beating me up.
As I'm going through the forums I'm seeing posts by people quoting posts that haven't happened yet. It's confusing. For example, the poster in post 23 will quote someone and I'll go looking for the post above thinking I've missed it, then find that post in post 51.
The question is, what's up with this? Are the forums scrambling the order of posts? I've been using, moderating and administrating internet forums for years and I've never seen that problem before. I have to assume that we haven't solved the riddles of the time-space continuum yet and that nobody is time travelling.
If the forums are scrambling the order of posts, how do we make it stop? (I know, I know. I just wish someone who cared had the authority to do something)

do you remember if the post that did the quoting was edited?
it is possible that they edited the post with a quote from a new post later on....
only possibility I can see
doesn't look like anything is mixed up for me

My first guess would be the same as Rha's, that the post was edited to address a later response.

/327/88/244333/1.htmlpost number 4 quotes a post of Raymonds that he seems to have deleted, but it was around post 10-15 this morning. I'll go see if I can find another example. I think there was one in the wiccan thread.

I think there was one in the wiccan thread. That might be a different post that Raymond deleted later. Remember, if you delete a post, you can completely delete it so nothing shows up - removing your post completely from the thread. You can also remove what you wrote and say something like "deleted because I like tuna and the tuna told me to delete this post of mine here . . which you can't see because the tuna told me to delete it."

I noticed this aswell, with quite a few posts. I just figured that they had been edited, but now im not so sure - some of them were actually addressing a quote from earlier, but had quoted a pot not yet posted though now that i have gone looking for them i cant seem to find them lol. typical

Oh, and a second issue I've noticed. I have been able to edit my posts, on occasion, and no little "Edited . . . " line comes up. Looks fresh and without additional edits.

The "edited" thing won't come up if you edit fast enough before anyone has a chance to read. (^_^) Yes, I noticed. But some threads go so quickly, and some write so slowly, that I personally could write something for several minutes, post it and find 12 more posts before mine posts. Then I edit immediately to reflect those 12 posts, so I don't double post, and I look at the thread in another window and see another 12 posts after my own. And I quote something and put it in the window I'm editing in. And press submit. If I do it quickly enough, that editing line will not show up.

I think if you edit it within a very short time of posting it it still counts as the original post. Later on I could edit this post to appear to be quoting a subsequent post.
