Tarina....this is all much ado about nothing for all the reasons given over 4 pages.
I go into a venue, whether a new one or a familiar one, and I do not expect someone to "rush up" and greet me. My ego is not so huge that I expect recognition for entering a place, but will respond when addressed. [sarcasm]I don't expect everyone from the venue staff to line up and greet me individually.[/sarcasm]
Yet I will offer that when someone enters our store or yard sale, I will attempt to "Welcome" them to the place, if I am able to do so.
One flaw I could not help but to note: You state that you were not upset, but muted the person who did IM you. Not upset? Somewhat of a contradiction there.

There have been numerous times when I was in the middle of a conversation or about to answer someone when the dreaded IM avalanche starts. First it's a customer that needs attention RIGHT NOW. Seconds later the Mentor channel erupts like a classroom full of 3rd graders who just saw a puppy. In no time flat, your screen is covered with IM - sending you into the IM Coma state and shutting down any normal chat you might have been involved in. It happens. And if you belong to certain groups, it happens a lot.....

I was wearing my prego shape... (5 months) for kicks cause, well I can.. I just came from another venue so was changing my clothes...to fit the venue.
My friend TPed in and with 2 sec she had a greet.. Welcome "myfriends name".
So I said, wow i didn't get a greet.. and then of course another of the hostesses says "Welcome Tarina!" the one at the front door never said welcome...
Oh it's not because there was so many people there that she missed me either.. there was like 5 people there...... So I made a comment that I would catch the Live muscian at another venue and poofed out'a there.. (cause I do go to his shows cause I like him) Of course my friend followed me out.
Then of course I get a IM asking me if there was a problem.. DUH! But me being nice, I said. oh no problem good luck with your place...and muted her.
So am I over reacting? Cause I am pretty angry over it. I'd say you're overreacting just a little bit. Even if they did have bad intentions, the best thing to do is to show them you can still have fun on SL and that they don't worry you. On my main account, I have several monster AV's that include (but not limited to) orcs, tentacle monsters, and various anthros. I get the usual "That's disgusting", and it's just something you're going to have to learn to ignore. However, I don't think they meant much harm. |

From: Rebecca Proudhon Maybe you need to give birth there to get attention. /me spits coke on the monitor xD To the OP: I freelance host and I can tell you that I sometimes miss people, not on purpose but because I was busy greeting someone else or went AFK for a moment. I usually try to fix this by doing a general shout out to everyone every so often: "hey everyone I missed coming in, welcome to the venue, blah blah". So yea, you may have been overreacting just a teensy bit.

Oh boy...welcome to the real (SL) world....It is rare that anyone ever greets me when I go into a club (also rare that bother with clubs in SL) I never give it a thought to be honest. How do I know what people are doing in front of their computers...I don't....and I don't care. I certainly don't take anything personally in SL....again...because I have idea what might be going on with the RL end of any given avatar.
It's really not worth it to get upset over things like that..... if I go into a club and I do get a greeting....I am usually just delighted that people are friendly....but if not.... it's simply not an issue. Obviously I'm gonna stick around if people ARE friendlier....but it does not effect my personal opinion of anyne in SL....
Perhaps her phone rang.....perhaps she was in IM's catching up on conversations.....perhaps her view was set so she didn't notice you come in....perhaps she was petting her cat....who the hell knows......but if things like that ruffle your feathers you're gonna have a hard time in SL luv. Relax....just have fun.... don't stress over what everyone else may or may not be doing or noticing... be yourself and enjoy SL for what it is "Virtual".
