I entered a venue tonight, I was there for about 3 min.... no one said a word to me..
I was wearing my prego shape... (5 months) for kicks cause, well I can.. I just came from another venue so was changing my clothes...to fit the venue.
My friend TPed in and with 2 sec she had a greet.. Welcome "myfriends name".
So I said, wow i didn't get a greet.. and then of course another of the hostesses says "Welcome Tarina!" the one at the front door never said welcome...

Oh it's not because there was so many people there that she missed me either.. there was like 5 people there...... So I made a comment that I would catch the Live muscian at another venue and poofed out'a there.. (cause I do go to his shows cause I like him) Of course my friend followed me out.
Then of course I get a IM asking me if there was a problem.. DUH! But me being nice, I said. oh no problem good luck with your place...and muted her.

So am I over reacting? Cause I am pretty angry over it.

She could have been afk and had no idea who came in first.

It sounds like over reacting to me. How do you know the person wasn't AFK for a moment or were afraid to address you because you could be a pregnant griefer? lol I find the best way to get a hello out of someone or recognition in general is to say hello first so people know you are approachable.

I'm not sure I understand the anger you feel. Did you go to this venue for the sole purpose of being greeted, or to see and hear the Live musician? :o

Yes, you are overreacting. Honestly, who cares if you got greeted or not? You went there to see a performer, not to get greeted. I know I personally would much rather not be greeted at all when I go into a club, it's a transparently artificial gesture anyway.

You said you were changing clothes. Was this at the new venue where you weren't greeted? If I see someone changing clothes or in edit appearance mode I usually don't say hi to them until they are finished becasue I don't want to interrupt. Could that be it?

sounds like she was afk. however, as hostess she should have greeted you both once she returned. to be angry over it is a waste of energy. relax enjoy the music and have fun :).

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

So someone didn't rush to greet you.

Were you PAYING them for a service?

/me shakes my head at the "entitlement society" values here these days.

***edit*** Also ... I am not having a go at the OP here specificially but I truly hope the preganancy spam was turned off. I've seen this at many live gigs, and frankly I don't care if baby is making mummy tired etc. OR, only related in terms of mood killing spam, whether the bats will be with someone's corpse until the end.

; )

Maybe I shocked her with my prego shape and Bikini..

But no, she was not AFK.. and I was not editing appearance. 2 clicks in my inventory and I'm dressed..

If you have a new SIM, a new venue.. any venue...Then reputation will follow and you will build or fail upon that... I may be new in SL time, but I understand that.

If people don't feel welcome they will not return. A host job is to be there.. not AFK. I know the club I used to work at if you went afk you had to move out of the club first.

No I don't go specificly to be greeted but I will return again and again if I feel welcome.
Which I did not there.

I'm not angry, I'm upset. Big difference.. And I tip well.. So, the nicer you are to me the better I will tip the venue. In this case I hope the few people that were there were enough..

And I will catch that musician at another place but I won't go back there.

; ))

Excuse me, but they bring these people in to MAKE MONEY via tips.. so yes, I am paying them for a service... to entertain me.

Hehehe... as a progenitor of some pregnant tummies (as their scripter--emphatically *not* as their father), I can say with some authority that a pregnant *shape* doesn't spam. My scripts, on the other hand...

I'm afraid I totally agree with Cherry here... You went to see a live performer... Free. Greetings are nice, but they're not the main reason I go to a performance. Whether or not you visit the venue again is totally up to you, of course...

Life would be much better if we gave each other the benefit of the doubt... why assume she snubbed you on purpose instead of just being distracted when you arrived?

You could have had some fun litening to the music and maybe even teased her a little...

I am a Customer Service Manager RL.

People RL expect good service and they should get it. If they don't get it they move on.

Big deal. So, someone had to go afk. Yes that is not ideal, that is not what you might want. Maybe they have a REAL child who just threw up all over the dog.

I've spent lots of money in SL = hundreds of dollars a month simply to provide a pleasing landscape/venue or whatever. I don't expect to be treated like royalty simply for turning up somewhere (tho of course I often AM because when I go somewhere I consider it my role in life to be an entertaining visitor).

Then again ... I don't have that automatic expectation of entitlement I mentioned.

Glad to hear you're not spamming music with claptrap though. Qie, my boyfriend will probably hunt you down if he reads this :) (Just joking!)

***edit at 4.30am*** to tip or not is voluntary - ergo you did not HAVE to pay to visit this venue. Get over it.

***edit 2*** Derbor is right. Probably, if talked to directly at the time, she would have been really embarassed and apologised profusely. You may even have made a new friend.

LOL

I know from my days hostessing (and I was damned good at it if I say so myself) I also had telephone calls from work/friends happening, my landlord turning up and then wanting to talk about a flood he had in another property (like I cared) and the people in the venue IMming the hell out of me with competition voting.

Oh Lulu .. poor doggy!

By the way ... most people who have live musicians are PAYING THEM to play there. Depending on how good the person is, the chances of them making more in tips than they are paying the performer is exceedingly low.

With the average being at least 5K paid out, many venue owners are using their money to provide something in SL, contributing to the community, showcasing talent ... and having some fun.

Could it just be hormones? (SLormones)
I can recall seriously considering hiding anything sharp or pointy from my woman for a period of time, when she was pregnant...

Then again, it may have been my particular brand of humor that drove her to threatening my existance...

Regardless, if one is not happy with a venue, by all means, don't return.

If it's one where it is hard to get in to see someone ... for instance if the likes of Mankind Tracer are playing ... then one less person in a sim where 100 isn't enough will not be missed. Esp if they are gonna be grouchy in public about it afterwards :)

And there's nothing at all wrong with your humour Joseph :)

Hmm it probably makes life so much simpler if they just throw up on the carpet instead, but instead you now have a spew coated dripping confused doggie bolting around the house as well as a distressed little person :)

I always like to pause at the entry and say hello if the greeter doesn't don't get in first.
If the don't respond then they may be AFK, it happens. Many greeters ignore people who don't pause, because it's suprising how many people ignore greeters completely running into the fray head on flat out speed, bumping into unrezzed people, running from room to room like a cartoon hotel door loby scene then come back and bluntly ask, "Where is.............?"
Not to mention their still empty tip jars after 2 hours working for customer interaction and often providing security from greifers. For gawds sake, a few $10L (3c US) tips is too much to ask for this service?
Not directed at anyone, but if people don't contribute a cent to a sim they visit regularly, how could they have a right to complain about quality of staff etc?
