Just a few days ago I took down my huge castle ( due to trying to move a picture and picking up a section of the castle by mistake )

I nearly did that the other day with my place cos I dint realise I'd linked the picture to my building!

One mistake I'm waiting to make is to spend hours making something on a sky platform in a sandbox, only to realise I'd forgotten I was on Beta grid and so my creation is useless!

Oh, Hi Kathryn. I moved my place about 50m north when the owner sold up. Arbor Project have just bought the land where that sex shop was (it closed about 2 days ago) The land I had is a bit of a jumble now, some of it closed off - a pity - but I'm literally only a few steps up the road and have a better site.

Happily own no land. My partner and I rent some lovely mainland space (not sure of the size, but plenty for our large house). Prior to that I lived in a small apt. with 128 prims which was plenty for my needs!

Currently I own 3 mainland regions and 1 estate. In addition, I manage an additional 13 regions.

Would you let me build on that?

Ironically, I don't even have one square meter of it to myself for personal use.

I kick around fifty prims or so on a platform high above West Trade Imports on the mainland.

But then the house demo rezzer downstairs doesn't work, so, I usually end up having to clean up.

Over a quarter million prims and none for me to play with, really. Crazy huh?

I own 4000m of original mainland in the mountains for my home. I have 3800m or so in Nautilus with lots of protected waterfront that I built a lounge/hangout on. Also have 512m on the southern continent for my small store. Donted 512m tier to the cartel, and I got a little over 512m left unused.

i am currently holding 16,000m2 on a single sim. my alt holds about 8,000 worth of scattered parcels on mainland.
im currently dividing the 16k into 1024 rental plots as well as a small shopping plaza, so i should have some land for rent soon.
the alts 8k are all parcels for sale.

218,518 m on mainland across 5 sims in Satori? the un-named continent anyway. (I bought the view) I love the variety of the mainland and having good neighbors. I also rent a bit out cause someone asked me to but mainly its a landscaped artist's colony with lots of beach, water and open sky for ballooning...and tons of prims for building. I don't really have any plans to do something clever like build a theme sim or rent out in a biz like manner...I probably should but it just seems like work and I work hard enuf in RL.

Also 4x4096 on a private estate where I live with my partner.

I often wonder if I've lost my mind! But as long as the tier stays in the realm of my entertainment budget, its okay.

1536m on the mainland - I don't believe in unused tier. Private skybox above and a woodland swimming hole down below. Everyone's welcome to stop by and take a dip!

I've got a really awesome set of neighbors to the North, East and West, but the art gallery that was South of me just packed up and put their land for sale, so I'm a little scared of who or what I'll wake up to in the next few weeks.

Half a sim 90 percent in Puea which is the location of my main store.
In addition to the store I usually have various projects going on, constantly doing experiments. Open to the public there is a water slide and a jet sky rezzer for anyone to use.

Just under 14,000 on the mainland, 2 lots, one is 16sqm and the other is (oh hell you work it out, lol). Aiming to buy the now vacant land next to me if I can find the spare $L for it (another 6,000 sqm).

The 16sqm plot is across the road, it was for sale and I didnt want an ad board or 3 going in, bad enough 1 managed to get in already)

The "extra" tier has been donated to one of the SL park groups. These are good places to donate spare tier too IMHO, oh and of course I am as well, <grin> gimme your spare tier!

8592 sq meters for business on mainland deeded to group, a little over 512 sq meters open tier (due to group bonus).

Self and RL relation in a group: 28,400 sq.m. with Linden protected water boundaries - spaced around a circumnavigation of the central land mass of Corsica - with two offshoots to the West.
The SE 4096 corner of Eldfell is a work in progress Irish-themed hangout and harbour - the personal project of the RL relation. Linden water on the S boundary.
The SW 2048 corner of Kuttara may be my own build project. Linden water on S and W boundaries. I may use some of the SW Nebo corner as well. Or maybe I'll just take the whole 4096 SW Eldfell corner as a building platform with fun stuff below.

Apart from two reclaimed ad plots of 160 and 240 on Linden water - to be used for boat-rezzing and ad-blocking - the rest will be rentals, with some public boat-rezzing also.
SW 4096 corner of Eldfell. Linden water on S and W boundaries.
SE 7856 corner of Nebo. Linden water to S and E
NW 1440 corner of Grimsvotn. Linden water to N and W
NE 1296 corner of Charleville. Linden water to N and E
4x 1024s that only have Linden water on one boundary.

Designing for rental is proving to be a pain in the butt. Up to now I've built purely to please myself. Now I have to stress (or not - lol!) over other peoples' tastes.
I might try mix in a few high-quality prefabs to see if they are more attractive to renters than my own (high-quality, of course) experiments.

I'm planning on sparse open-plan marine/beach theme at water level with the main build in the sky above.
I was used to building in mature unspoilt sims in the old continents. The four 1024 plots are definitely in potential Wild West territory. Two of them currently have a neighbour using ban lines. A screen to hide the ban lines can not contain alpha. I don't like screens and really don't like the idea of walls. I just need to have a selection of appropriate screens/walls for immediate use if the need arises.

Friends who have 16k and 32k single waterfront plots are sort-of an envy opportunity when I see the greater freedom in space they have to work with. I rationalise my choice as allowing me to experiment with wildly varying builds. Yup, and the price for that is the potential for neighbouring builds to be 'wildly varying' - but that's actually one of the joys of SL once you get over it. There's good in everything if only we go looking for it. :)

I have a humble 512 of mainland and I love it! It's a roadside plot and has nice views (for now!). So far it has a big oak tree for lolling against and a log to sit on and admire said nice views.
I am halfway through building a little house to put on it, but am undecided really whether I want to use so much of my prim limit on something as static as a house - the weather always seems nice enough for outdoors anyway and as we know, privacy is a joke, so I may just use the space for a variety of interesting smaller items and change them regularly. Early days.

My alt and I, as a group have a 1024 plot, tier free. As such we have an unused tier of 102sm. We're on a slope facing the sunset in a terraced garden and a freebie house, somewhere for fiancee to change clothes. I did pick up a bird bath from the Treasure Hunters Treasure Hunt the other day, a nice addition to the fairly conservative garden :)

512 or 1024 isn't 'humble'.
It's probably the most intense fun per buck you'll get in SL :)

Getting and building on my First Land 512 was just the greatest rush.

There's a 'rule' in RL to do with buying sailing boats.
The amount they get used and the level of fun they give is normally in inverse proportion to their cost.
The same might be said for SL tier. :)

I have 32,104sqm - 16ksqm at Triumphal, with open access to the protected ocean, and the Linden channel to the old continent from Nautilus, damn it was a good day when that arrived!

4096sqm at Plontafus, for a race marker for boat races from Triumphal, a group holding of 4096sqm also close to Triumphal for racing and conservation.

I also just grabbed 2048 to become neighbours with a friend right next to the open channel in Corsica down to Nautilus. That's all about the position!

I have 1776sqm left in this tier - I might be going up to the full sim tier next month.

None of this makes me any money - and I doubt it will ever pay for itself, I just enjoy the sailing, and surfing, and want to create some nice places.

I also rent probs a 6ksqm plot in a mall for my franchise.

No wonder I don't go out rl any more LOL !

You do realise it sounds funny that you mention the fiancee and a BIRD bath in the same paragraph.... ;)

My fiance can just use the hot tub at my place....

Me too. My first land 512 seemed immense to me when I first joined! And it taught me the joy of prim efficiency and building in the sky.

I have about 17K sqm all deeded to my groups. The most of it (aprox 16K) are used in my Store and an artificial lagoon.

I started with 4096 on a pretty little mainland beach in a sim that had just opened. I thought that would be enough until neighbors put up ugly builds and I had to buy them out to save the views. One after another, I kept buying them out until I now have 32,700 of contiguous land in that same region. Oh, and my alt has 8,000 in the region next door. But it's all in the same group. It gets so confusing trying to figure tier limits for group land because of that 10% extra thing.

512m2 for me
512 m2 for my alt
512 m2 for Kitten
all grouped...

so 1536 m2 total for us...

plenty of space for our home, and we change the "style" or build occaisionally, almost always have a skybox for privacy and a little beachfront with a nice couples hammock between two palm trees below...:)

My sister in law and I own, together, a half sim in Ghulffoot. Its basically lovely, waterfront and water. Another person owns almost the other half. He basically has horrible taste and we don't get along BUT we basically leave each other alone and ignore each other. I believe there are three 512s inthe sim owned by others.

At one time, my ambition was to own a whole sim. Nowdays, withall of the technical problems, I seriously doubt that owning more land justifies the investment, especially with the uncertainty about tier increases.

I started with 512 and gradually built up, thanks in large part to reading ray figtree's land threads. I have yet to lose money on a land deal, although if I sold now I would.

I'm not in business so the land I have is for our own enjoyment and recreation.

Is it cheaper to share your land with your alt, even after paying the alt's annual premium fee, as opposed to owning all the land yourself (and still donating to group)?

I ask because I have large land holdings, and have hit the top tier level as a result. Would it save me money to have an alt (or hubby) upgrade to premium, and donate some of their tier so I could tier down? I get so confused when I try to factor in that 10% bonus for donating your tier to your group, and then the 512 sqm that you get premium free. Does having that second alt make those numbers come out more favorably, even though you are now paying annual memberships and tier on two accounts? I'ld love it if that were true!

I have 36288 square meters of land, currently all owned by my group, to which I have donated my tier.

Any input?
