Most Important Things NOT to do in SL

List some things that are bad , will cause annoying/bad things, or make life bad etc etc....

Using a speed boost while crossing sims

Unlinking vehicles and buildings then making them physical

Taking objects from strangers

My most important would be won't ban yourself from your own land by accident while every surrounding parcel also has you banned

Took me like twenty minutes to even get into the correct about land info...

Don't build for hours without taking copies every so often.

Always detach xcite parts before dressing.

Never, EVER, give debit permissions to an item that you received from a stranger, no matter WHAT it promises to do for you!

And don't forget to label them, so you don't have to go back through and see which one is the version you are looking for . >.<

Don't play with unknown poseballs in public places. People like taking snapshots entirely too much

Don't log in when you're in a bad mood because you may risk making things worse or accidentally returning whole sims worth of objects accidentally.

It has been many moons since I last used xcite parts, and they've been eaten now by SL, but you can just set them to be inactive (I've forgotten the terms, something like discret to turn off chat, and something else to turn off permission of others to do anything with xcite, though they can "see" the item on you).


Yes. Always remember to label your objects. I sometimes label the item before I've even done anything with the plain prim just so if I crash I'll not have lots of half complete "objects" in inventory.

Oh, and do not accept a kiss/hug from Sob. He is attempting to kick you in an intimate place. Violently kick you. You will end up clutching yourself, on the ground, crying and crinching.

* Renting land or space, taking the money, allowing the renter to build and design, and then deleting everything in your parcel. Without telling you.

* People who continue to make 'DJ Booths' even though they all suck.

* Spinning lights all over the place in a club. It's annoying, and sometimes even gets in the way of alt-zooming.

* Those who create large skyward towers that have nothing in them. It's annoying to fly up and explore, come to find nothing is there. Finish your work! Detail is everything!

* Sims that have hardcore hiphop or grudge rock always streaming. I know...it's preference, but that's what this thread is about.

* Musicians that host open mic, who don't know how to play guitar. Actually...it's entertaining for the first ten minutes...if you catch my drift.

* Placing a prim or object on the ground a million times before it 'takes.'

* Invisible, late-spawning prims

* People that walk around with huge hardons in public, even PG places.

* Spinning ads in the sky--these HAVE to go...how do these even work?

OK, those are just a few. I love SL, don't get me wrong.

Don't set your land for sale for L$ 1 unless you know what you're doing and/or can read simple instructions

Do not just click a random button to make a pop-up go away (script asking for debit permissions, the confirmation for setting land for sale, etc).

Do not think that "Anyone" in the land sale window means "Only the person 1m away from me".

Do not buy private island land until you understand and accept that you're not actually "buying" anything.

Do not grant modify permissions without realizing the full set of rights you're giving away(can take anything transfer that you own, can modify anything that you own, can drop spy scripts in any of your rezzed prims, etc).

Do not use the land return as a lazy way of picking up all of your prims, you're just asking for things to go missing.

Don't leave things everywhere you go. There is usually auto return or no rez in places where it would be a problem, but nobody likes a litterbug.

Don't cage/orbit/push people unless you are in a combat sim or playing with consenting friends.

Don't beg for money; it looks tacky and is frowned upon.

Don't hesitate to ask questions on the Resident Answers forum even if you think the question is stupid. (which it's not)

Do not attack Lindens; they are a rare species in this world. (unless it's officially hunting season as they have been excessively mating)

Don't take Second Life too seriously; try to have as much fun as possible.

Don't sit on strange things that do not belong to you.
