Well (grudgingly), maybe SOMETIMES . . . when I'm out of batteries. :D

They even have ones with a little hand crank...I'm guessing for Amish people.

If the monitor became suddenly like Alice's Looking glass... and you could step through it into the world of SL... would you? For a day? a month? a year? forever?

Aside from any of the "not a true world" arguments, and taken just as written in the OP...
I would probably alternate every day or so back and forth between the two, if that was an option, but I'd never just give up RL for something like this. I admit it would be tempting if you could have all your senses like touch, taste, smell, etc.. and it became as real as RL is.. But then if it became just like RL I'm sure it wouldn't be as much of the worry-free escape it is now. How about you ask if people would like to have their shape sliders, interchangable skins, hair styles, and favorite animations in the REAL world? Gawd I'd be all over that one :p

Edit: OMG! how could I forget the shoes!

Did you know (I read this, mmmhmmm, so is hearsay of course, never ever happened to me personally) that when those things get really old, like say 20 years old, they can malfunction and sparks can shoot out the end? This could cause problems, like catch you on fire. Especially those old fashioned plug in kinds that don't use batteries, oh they are very dangerous.........you could get electrocuted......so I heard.

For me, I'd like to take a vacation in SL, but I wouldn't want to get the change of address forms from the post office. ;)

Ewwwww...who would keep one of those for 20 years?

That's as bad has the guy who has a condom in his wallett since high school.

Hmmm. You're sure the sparks shooting out of the end isn't just sort of a sympathetic response on the part of the toy to . . . um . . . well, you know? Maybe it's DESIGNED that way, as a sort of mini celebratory fireworks display?

:D

Especially when that Post Office is staffed by Lindens.

Some things are better being interactive in a very, very limited way, like, *I* personally don't want to see joy from a toy......

That's kind of the flipside of what I was asking in this poll, a while back...

Shape change, Hairdos without actually having to DO them, insta-tan, dancing with the stars...

A lot of people mention touch, taste, smell, the feeling of the wind on their skin, etc. for their reason not to give up RL for SL.

Reminds me of the film "Wings of Desire." Remember? When the angel wanted to feel all of that so he gave up his wings?

(What if our avs could come into RL! EEK!) :-O

Oh, they have those already. They are sort of rubber, and take batteries, and have a little button near the bottom . . .

AND you can turn them on when YOU want to!! :D

ETA: Oh hell. This time Treasure and Brenda beat ME to it! :(

Pffffft.... Batteries are for amateurs!

Only if we could do some kind of meld, have my mind go into her body (and own her wardrobe). If I can't be her, I don't want to play.

Yes, I'd step in and out if I could.
Why not?
I do anyway don't I? Coming online to sl is accessing with my computer and immediately I am "in" - we just access this world in a different way from waking up in our real world.

A sort of light tickle, to stimulate the nerve endings and the blood flow?? ;)

Hey, when I was kid, I used to stick 9-volt batteries on my tongue . . .

/me laughs. No, but that IS interesting. Stimulates blood flow to the scalp, eh, keeps the ole brains lubed. :D No, the one I am thinking of is fully hand held, not attached to a box or anything. And it's not a 'wand' of any kind, you know, not shaped like that. It's kinda hand shaped actually. And the sparks are definitely a malfunction, because it's old and tired.
