Have you ever met your avatar twin?

Yeh, but what I mean is... other people are tweaking theirs all the time, so at any time there must be lots of people with their slider settings close enough to yours that you can't tell the difference.

I stopped tweaking my shape within a few months of being here, and now never change it. It is of course possible that there are avatars whose shape is close enough to my homemade shape for me not to tell the differece. But the number of female human avatars with the hight slider set at 5 and the body fat slider set above 40 seems, in what I have seen of the grid, to be rather small. I would notice an avatar with something close to my shape before I would notice details such as skin.

Darker skinner avs

I made my own shape and I'm one of very few darker skinned people in SL, so I voted No. I'd like to see more brown people in SL. :)

I too have a dark skinned avi but sure enough, managed to meet a 'twin' with the same skin and hair. I just changed hair and was good to go, it was mildly annoying at the moment. As for the shape, I use a modifiable one as like a shorter avi than the norm.

Have you ever encountered an avatar in SL that had the same shape, skin, and hair as you?

If so, what was your reaction?

Please note - this poll displays your name with your choice!

This is the closest that I have found while human. Happened to notice that we had the same skin, hair color (not style), height, so took a picture. I'm the larger one looking into the camera.

I have not looked like that in a long while (picture is from March), and I haven't seen that other fellow since maybe March.

I think so... I mean, the question being asked is an indicator that the finite combinations given to us make it possible to be truly unique. Why not? Still, shapes are just one of those things that are on my "Woah! Someone pays for that?" list. (^_^)y

I've seen it as a joke (or not) about "Someone pays for that?" before. I did not have a thought on the subject at the time. But I did go to the Hotel Dare sim the other day and I spotted a shop selling shapes that looked like the kind you might say "Woah! Someone pays for that?". It was, at least I thought considering the merchandise, something of a humor store.

Reminds me that my alt that I rarely use wore an odd ball shape most of his existence. It was the generic troll shape, but I found a nice skin, hair, glasses, and quality clothing. The mere idea of trying to create such a critter intrigued me. A gentleman troll.

There was a thread on another forum that mentioned that there was a change in the avatar system. At least the distinctive face/nose, etc. could not be recreated now.

If that other fellow is who I think it is, I haven't seen him around SL for a good long time. I miss him, he was a good guy and we had good chats about music.

To answer the OP's question, I have never run into anyone who resembles me. My two avatars both wear shapes that I made that are fairly unusual for SL shapes. The shapes are similar - I've been told by Cartel folk that they look like sisters even though one is much taller than the other and they wear radically different skin colors. But they do have similar faces, and especially the big eyes, long nose, and soft chin they both have do give them a similar look.

As for skins, one avatar wears a blue-green skin that, while lots of other people may own it they don't tend to wear it too often - you just don't meet a lot of blue-green women in SL. So I don't see too many folks in her skin. My other avatar wears a skin that is specifically designed to look a bit older, with more prominent facial creases and such, also something that many in SL shy away from. So I don't see too many folks in her skin, either.

I see his name sometimes when I go to the arcade page over on SLU. I feel like a stalker now. Bad me. He logged into SLU December 9th. Does not mean he has been in SL between March-December.

Running into him in that skin was something of a shock since the skin was creased, wrinkly, and unlike most other male avatars. Plus I did not/do not have tats. I admit that he does pull off that look better.

I think you both look great.

I'll stalk him over at SLU and in my group member list to see if he's been in SL. *grin* kidding - but I do like the guy and should at least send him a message to let him know I was thinking of him. :)

Thank-you, though that look was from 9 to ten months ago. :)

I do not recall spotting another me in world. My alts had their own shapes, skin, and hair. Their own personalities, so they were not twins. Granted, at this point I could walk past someone that looks exactly like Sonia and I wouldn't think twice. Every time I log into Sonia, rare though it might be, I suddenly remember what Sonia looks like.

Though they both had the same hair for a while there. That had never happened before. My only excuse is that Sonia hadn't logged in for a long time, so I couldnt' change her hair, and I liked that hair and wanted it for Lexxi. Now I am not wearing it as Lexxi.

I doubt anyone except my alt would look just like me. I shortened a typical SL shape, and kept making parts bigger until it looked like me in RL. People who do that usually seem to use popular freebie skins or custom ones, and I have a pale for-pay skin.

I have a twin sister but, I created her so that doesn't count.

Doubtful for me too. I did my own shape, wear too many hairs to every find anyone wearing a matching one and the same for my skins. Only one person ever came sort of close to looking a bit like me and that was Maureen Boccacio when she first arrived inworld. I thought from her picture in the forum she looked quite a bit like me but once we met at the Hangout it was evident the resemblence was rather minimal at best.

I do enjoy having my twin inworld with me when I can manage to run two SL's on my desktop at the sametime. Loire and Elora are exact although, very different personalities (she's more subdued than I am lol).

the skin i use regularly is no longer being made, and the shape, is uniquely(i think) mine.

What was the point of making a poll that shows the names against the voting choices? What do you intend to do with the information?

Seriously I would like to know.

And it won't happen for a while because the hair I normally wear was custom-made and is completely unique. Although I believe the maker is going to include it for sale at some point. My shape is also made by myself and therefore probably unique (but I wouldn't notice a matching shape anyway).

Maybe to check whether drama queen abscondee Ciera Spyker had fulfilled her public promise to leave.:D

Pep (She voted - at least ten days after the date she stated she would be going - so she hasn't; surprise, surprise! )

Recently I ws testing one of Wynx Whiplash's nice Christmas polar bear avatars (run down to Extrovirtual and get one, they're smashing). I trotted down to show a friend, and landed next to him... he looks at me and makes a comment about a mutual friend making a quick color change. I say, "Oh, (mutual friend) got one of these too? I didn't think they were out yet."

He was boggled.

Apparently, by sheer coincidence, a minute before I showed up another person in the brown bear version of the same avatar had been standing right where I was... and as he's someone who leaves names turned off...

I've also had quite a few people tell me they started a conversation with my stunt double (a particle-based standup I made) and were worried when I didn't respond... so I guess you could say I'm my own twin.

Do? I won't do anything with it. I was just curious. The plain numbers are not very interesting, I don't think, but I did want to see WHO voted which way.

But the poll itself warns that this is the case, and so did I in my initial post.

So now you know WHO voted and in what way, how does that help you in anyway that the pure numbers didn't? Surely there must be a good reason for taking away the anonymity of the voters?

Sure you labeled the poll, no question about that and I am not disputing it but I would like to know what extra "interest" there is in knowing my voting choice which a poll total does not provide. i.e. How does my vote change or confirm your viewpoint of me and others? Surely it is not unreasonable to want to know since you took a deliberate step to set it up this way?
