Who made the OpenSpace decision...

From what I understand from insiders it was a decision made by one Linden in the position to make a blanket decision and M. supported the decision.

But at the same time, certain residents who are romantically involved with Lindens , and own Island Sim(s), sold their sim(s) and moved to the mainland about a month ago so we know that certain people had a heads up.


M. may approve the decision because he is a corporate suit tool, but Jack made the decision.

So it is Jack who should be burning at the stake and not getting pats on the back.

Who is patting Jack on the back? I think it is common knowledge that he is the instigator of OS price rises.

Common speculation anyway..

Set, I think the short answer is that we don't know, and probably never will _know_, what conversations took place.

It could be that Jack fought long & hard against this but was shot down. It could be that he came up with this idea, and all the nefarious subplots suggested by some around here, and sold it to his management. Or it could be something totally different or something in between.

I wouldn't wait for an answer as to who did what. They're probably not going to talk about that.

I do know. I trust my inside sources because they are "inside".

I guess I don't really care either way if a few people got advance notice but the drama factor that this adds is pretty big..

I just love people who make statements based on "inside information" that they then refuse to back up.

"Captain of the ship" issue.

The captain gets the big bucks and the authority - precisely to make the right decisions, to be accountable, to stand or fall by the results.

I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm just calling it as I see it.

Few expect absolute perfection from a captain, but they also don't expect the Exxon Valdez. My guess is that we shall understand the full impact of these interesting times by March or so.

I suppose i can say what Lindens told me what, and which Lindens are dating popular store owners who moved their stores back to the mainland because they knew the decision was coming but then that would put me out with my friends and cut off all future links to insider details.

When people break stories, like reporters, sources cannot be revealed without destroying relationships. And you people paying an extra $50 a month on your OS is not worth my exposing people as exposing sources does no good but bring up more questions and create drama.

The bottom line is that Jack is not "poor Jack", he is "Piss poor idea Jack, thanks alot".

People should be happy that anyone is willing to break ranks and say what is floating about the FIC pool anyways.

You know, we really need to come up with an official unfounded rumors and speculation drinking game for SL.

Take one shot every time someone says "this is IT for SL, game over."

Take one shot every time someone declares in high dudgeon that they are closing their account and leaving forever.

Take one shot for every obvious coward alt account attack post.

Take one shot for every "insider information" rumor.

Take one shot for every "is SL about to be sold" rumor.

Take one shot for every rumor about a major land baron selling off and cashing out after getting advance notice of a major policy change.

Take one shot for every forum post from someone who thinks LL has specifically targeted them to destroy their business.

I'm not going to get too involved in this OS issue, as I don't have and never had had any investment in OS land.

However whether or not Jack made the decision, you seemed to come onto the forum for the first time to shit stir. That makes you a troll.

This post is no more a 'shit stir' post than any others freaking out about the OS issue.

The only person labeling and name calling is you however, so i guess "it takes a troll to know a troll".

LL did. it makes no difference beyond that, since it's a team effort.

Of course it is an alt. Does not make it any less valid that someone wants to hide their identity when revealing stuff they know that they should not be revealing in public.

I wasn't reffering to the forum. I mean't common knowledge amongst the poeple I associate with in world. I barely follow the OS forum threads but assumed it was the same here.

Recognising the drama potential in this thread and regretting I said anything at all in it - but I'm not one to go back and ninja-edit my stuff unless it's a typo or suchlike.

Unfounded tales won't help residents or Linden Research, and won't get anyone closer to good solutions.

I think this has gotten most of it covered. Only problem I see is that we'd be too drunk to post anything after the first couple of threads. Come to think of it... might make for a quieter forum...

in case it is lost on ppl, this openspace announcemet has brought all the non forum ppl out of the woodwork to voice their disgust. go look in that announcement thread at all the 1 and 2 post accounts piping up. the fact that a 5 year old av with little forum activity saw a desire to speak up says a lot by my thinking.

And it has also brought a lot of unverified disposable alts into the woodwoork too I suspect, posting some big untruths for the sake of financial interests.
